Great option to pay a bit less rent

Management recently changed and is supposedly fixing previous management's issues, but these things take time. Complex has a gym, pool, business center, dog park, rooftop lounge, and parking garage (for an extra charge). It's definitely cheaper than DC rent, but then you have to factor in transportation.

Good Location New Management

About a ten minute walk to two different metro stops (yellow/blue line). Metro takes about 15-20min to get to Howard metro.
Relatively nice apartments, but the staff has been changing lately. Prior staff was very friendly and welcoming, but not sure about the current staff.
Walking distance to lots of shops and food. Building tries to have events (food trucks, pizza, etc.) for residents once every few months.
Some apartments have views of the capital. Very easy to get to the DCA airport.

Great value for the neighborhood

Great building in a great location. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Leasing office staff are there when you need them. I have lived here for four years and will be signing another lease in May. They allow large dogs, which is a major plus.

Great apartment across the river

The management/leasing office is very accommodating. The apartment is beautiful and functional, and has a balcony. It has its own washer/dryer and building amenities include a dog run, clubroom, gym, rooftop pool (summer only), and business center. So far, maintenance issues have been quickly resolved. Pentagon City is a great location, and transportation and shopping options are conveniently nearby.

Great place, up and coming area

The buildings include a gym and a pool, both very nice. There is a Whole Foods going up across the street and there are plenty of restaurants and shopping in walking distance with Crystal City and Pentagon City malls within a half mile as well as metro stations in both of those places.

Pentagon City at it's best

I love the Meridian. I moved from the one at Braddock Road to be closer to the city and lived here for 2 years before we finally moved to the city. Pentagon city is amazing. So many restaurants and THE MALL. Building was really good at taking care of maintenance requests. Typical high end building amenities. I had no complaints. Only moved because we had saved enough to finally move downtown.

Getting around Pentagon City

Pentagon City Reviews

66 reviews
Pentagon City is nice and fairly quiet, which is good for studying. There are some students around but it's mostly families and working individuals. There's not a ton to do, but there are some nice places to walk, and there is a good array of restaurants. The apartment is close to a Harris Teeter and a Whole Foods and Costco.
Safe. Feels like a retirement community. Drivers stop to let you cross the street to the apartment.

For the metro, the ride itself is about 20 min. I just budget in extra time for walking and not wanting to arrive just on time. It shouldn't take 45 minutes to get to school unless they're doing maintenance. Then, add 10 minutes.
The Crystal City and Pentagon City area has a lot of restaurants and shopping in convenient walking distance. The area tends to clear out after 5 on weekdays, but is often busy on weekends, mostly with tourists. I have always felt safe walking alone in the area at whatever time of day/night.
There is not a lot of green space, unless you count Long Bridge "Park", which is a dead-end, cement "bridge" that looks over soccer and baseball fields with some views of D.C.
The location is great. It's a 7 minute walk to the blue line metro, and the total commute to campus is 25 minutes (when the blue line is running properly). An uber takes about 12 minutes and costs an average of $5 per ride (with uber pool). Pentagon City has just about everything you could need. There is a Whole Foods across the street, and the Fashion Center mall is right next to the metro station. There are restaurants, coffee shops, and convenience stores, and a very well maintained public park.
General vibe is 30-somethings wanting to settle down, lots of dogs. Not a huge social scene (which I'm A-OK with).

Pros:
-Very metro-accessible (blue/yellow, so can get into the city in multiple directions if there are delays)
-Walkable - easy to get to grocery store, Pentagon City mall, library, restaurants, etc. within minutes
-Quiet and safe, and generally well-lit in the evenings

Cons:
-I'd like to see a few more restaurant options. There are good casual dining options, like Naked Pizza, California Pizza Kitchen, and the mall food court, but besides Bonefish Grill there's not much a step up from that.
-I don't feel much sense of community, and don't know my neighbors. Not as diverse-seeming as other parts of DC.
The Pentagon City area is safe, quiet (except for big shopping weekends!), and well-lit. Grocery store (Harris Teeter) and tons of other shopping options for all other needs. The metro station is convenient to all area apartment complexes. Great green space/parks across from mall with lots of walking paths. Closest churches however are on 23rd St in Crystal City -- which is not too far of a walk in good weather!
There are dining and shopping options galore. A massive three story shopping mall directly across the street. There are multiple parks in the area and grocery shopping options are within a 15 minute walk. There is a public library nearby and many bus routes.
I like the neighborhood, lots of food options, close to a movie theater, and right next to a mall. Only downside is many of my friends live in D.C. and you can feel apart from the city often.
