I love my apartment

The bathroom isn't as great as I'd like but the closet space is awesome. It's a studio and I have one 5 foot wide closet, two 4 foot wide closets, a 3 foot wide closet and a storage closet that is about 4 by 6 feet. They also market a shuttle that drives students to and from campus but it doesn't actually have enough seats for everyone before classes in the morning.

Pros: Great building management, reasonable rent, and a shuttle to campus! Cons: Slightly older building and distance from Rittenhouse Square.

I really like living here - the building management is great and the rent is reasonable. There is a daily shuttle to and from campus which is fantastic in the winter! The location is conveniently close to Pub, 2401 Chestnut (literally across the parking lot), Trader Joe's and the train station. I also like that the kitchen is very spacious, and allows both my roommate and me to cook at the same time. Granted, many of the other buildings come with nicer amenities such as a better gym, hardwood floors, common roof areas, etc., but for the rent, I think it's hard to do better than 2400 Chestnut. The one minus I would point to is the location -- we are a little bit further from Rittenhouse Square than many of the other popular Wharton buildings, and the last two blocks on Chestnut are a little bit quiet at night.

Perfect location for 2401 Walnut, Pub and Amtrak train station! Best value for money!

Excellent! 1-minute walk to 2401 Walnut and Pub (Amory), no other building can beat that!! Free shuttle bus every morning from the building to campus, runs every 20 minutes. You don't want to walk in a cold winter or wait for the bus that is usually full by the time it gets to 23rd Walnut! Doormen takes good care of package deliveries. Choose a higher floor to enjoy a better view and avoid the noise from the trains and highways.

Best value for money in Center City if you're looking for a high rise with doorman

One of the best value for money high-rise buildings in Center City. Free shuttle to and fro campus on weekdays, free laundry on every floor, free gym and conference room on wifi, really friendly doormen and staff, only 7 mins walk to 30th St Station, close to many buses and trolleys, as well as Trader Joe's. Can't find a better deal in this neighborhood. Only pet peeve is the additional 5-7 mins walk than most other people to Rittenhouse Square, but that's really nitpicking.

2400 Chestnut - IDEAL rent, location and friendly amenities.

I love 2400 Chestnut. Reasons: 1. It's across the street from 2401 Walnut the MBA study lounge. It's also across the street from the Armory Pub. 2. They provide a van shuttle every 20 mins to campus - great when its cold. 3. Free laundry on every floor. 4. Great sunlight in rooms (big windows). 5. Good shower pressure. 6. No insects or rodents on the 32nd floor anyway. 7. Amazing doormen who know you, care about you. 8. Good mail room that receives and holds big packages for you. 9. Free gym (small size but sufficient.) 10. Free satellite tv (50+ channels). 11. I can buy Comcast Xfinity Internet only for $40 and stream all the other shows I want. 11. Cheapest rents for location 2200 vs 2600 for 2 bedroom. You get carpet instead of hardwood, white instead of stainless appliances, and white counters instead of granite. I think it's worth the $400 differential. Utilities (electricity) have been $60, 70, 130, 160 and 190 for 2 people.

Thumbs up!

Very big and a reasonable rate. You get a lot for what you pay for. Great bedroom layout with rooms on opposite sides. Awesome view of the river and west Philly. Really convenient for train station, campus, 2401 walnut, etc. only downside is that the electric bills are quite high. Cable, dishwasher, laundry in and out of suite all included. Really nice and helpful concierges too.

Excellent for married couples

Perfect location (near Center City attractions, grocery store, school, and train station), great management, affordable rent, and convenient amenities make 2400 Chestnut ideal for my wife and I as we are both MBA students. There is a small gym in the basement that is OK, but not great. Although we don't have a car, many people claim this is the most affordable parking they know of for the long term. There is also a shuttle in the mornings that many people use to get to University City and back.

2400 Chestnut is an excellent value

2400 Chestnut is good because the management is friendly, it got a van to school, it's relatively cheap. I think the value of the apartment is higher than others.

Fitler Square Reviews

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
