2400 Chestnut - A hidden gem!

2400 is a great place to live. The building is clean, the tenets are nice and the management is efficient and friendly. I have had nothing but good experiences and have resigned my lease for another term! Also, there is ample closet and storage space.

Great apartment

Great building, great management, maintenance requests are usually fulfilled within a day, no rodents or bugs. I've lived here since I moved to Philly in 2011, and I highly recommend it.

Great

It's a great place to live. Lot's of med students live here. There is a shuttle to and from school every day that leaves about every 20 minutes, so it's great if you are lazy in the morning or hate the cold. The shuttle is probably my favorite part. Having a doorman and a mailroom is great.

Convenient location

I love living at 2400 Chestnut. It is the perfect balance of being in center city yet not too far from campus. The shuttle service is probably one of my favorite amentities. I hate the cold, so not having to walk to and from school in the winter is a blessing. Additionally, since I'm not walking as much in the winter (I like the short 20 minute walk to school during warmer months), I like being able to take advantage of the gym. The only thing about the gym that could be better would be the addition of a squat rack! The staff at 2400 is extremely friendly, and the doormen learned my name within a few days of me living there. The main complaint that I have is that there coud be some renovations done to modernize the apartment. The amenties (countertops, bathroom tiling, carpet etc) could be a lot nicer considering the monthly rent. Additionally, the walls have HUGE windows, which are GREAT for views of the city, but AWFUL when winter rolls around. The electric bill can get a bit out of control if you're not careful. Overall, I like living in 2400 Chestnut, and plan to stay there for my entire time of med school.

Fabulous

No bugs, quick repairs, doorguys are great and staff are wonderful, package room makes a difference - I know deliveries will be safe, shuttle service in the am is invaluable.
Great size for cost, gym in basement is great.
I took advantage of parking, cheapest around. Close to center city, close to campus, right on the Penn Bus route.

I feel safe here. Apartments could use some updating, but overall, 10/10 experience. Lived by myself in apartments for the past 5 years, 2400 has been by far the best experience.

Basically Penn Grad Dorm

There are tons of Penn grad students living here, and for good reason. It's not the newest building, but they just replaced all the windows and the amenities are nice - doorman 24/7, free laundry and gym, shuttle that takes you to campus in the morning (though it leaves too late for most clinical rotations). It's across the river so you have all the convenience of living in Center City but it's close to the Penn hospitals.

The Most Convenient Building

I believe 2400 Chestnut is the most convenient building for Wharton student. The apartment has shuttle bus service to school, has low rate monthly parking spot, has cable TV channel, and has a so-so gym, etc.
About location, it locates next to 2401 Walnut (I can get there in 3 mins from my bed.), about 10 minutes away from Rittenhouse square and many places Wharton people will meet, close to TJ's and Rite-Aid, and less than 10 minutes away from 30th station, etc.
The building is little bit old but condition is good. So if you want to live "practical" and "convenient" place, 2400 Chestnut is good option.

Average apartment with no major complaints

- Central location between campus and Rittenhouse square
- Amenities kept in good condition and no major complaints but nothing spectacular
- Nice features - internet and cable (moderate quality) included, doorman 24/7, gym
- Mostly grad students (med, law, business schools) - offers 21 month leases
- Average bang for your buck

Great location between University City and Rittenhouse

It is a very good location in the middle of everything. Gym is ok. Dormans are great. Apartments are good value.

Fitler Square Reviews

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
