Good apartment for starting out in DC

I lived in Cleveland House apartments for 1.5 years. I had a good experience there - the management was fairly responsive to any issues we had and was generally on top of things. I had 2 roommates but had my own bathroom and bedroom and had no issues with the roommates. The kitchen in my unit was very small and perhaps not fit for 3 people but I had to take the apartment without a tour as I am an international student so I couldn't do much about it. It worked out for me because the roommates were all accommodating. The apartment is a 10 minute walk to the Woodley Park metro (red line) and about a 45 minute walk to campus. It's in a safe neighborhood, I never had issues with walking at night or returning very late. One thing to note is that there are no grocery stores in a 15 minute walking distance. I usually did groceries online through Giant.

Potential but Too Many Problems

My apartment has a huge pest problem (cockroaches) and others frequently report issues with roaches and mice in their apartment. In addition, we've had issues with our radiators and a leak that is damaging our walls. Management is responsive but the issues are never really completely taken care of. Too much of my time is spent making maintenance requests.

Great location, friendly staff

Cleveland House is a wonderful place to live. I love the Woodley Park area (residential feel while close to Dupont Circle) and its outdoorsy atmosphere. The staff is great, they recognize you quickly and take the time to learn your name, say hello, and help you out.

Cleveland house

I am very happy with the storage space in my unit. The unit is very spacious and has plenty of sunlight. It is a great value for our money. The company is also pet friendly, which is a huge plus. The 24/7 front desk staff ensures our security at all times.

Great place to live downtown with a lot of value

Have been living here for a month and it's been very easy to acclimate to the building and the neighborhood. The staff is extremely friendly, the neighborhood has virtually everything nearby except a good place to get groceries, and the units offer a lot of space for the money. A good distance from the main drag which offers a feeling of security. The building is a little older, so the walls are thin and you can certainly hear neighbors when they talk in the hallways. Updated appliances are a huge plus, and over it's been great so far.

Great apartment in a great neighborhood!

Cleveland House is a lovely place to live, with friendly reception staff, good gym facilities, wood floors, and spacious rooms. Though it's about a 7 minute walk from the metro, being in Woodley Park is really nice. Very close to Adams Morgan/Dupont/Cathedral Heights is worth it! Plus all of the great dining options in the area.

good value

Safe, centrally-located multi-unit apartment building about 3 blocks from the metro. amenities are nice but a bit outdated. management/front desk staff is very nice and helpful. Building is pet-friendly and residents range from students, young professionals, younger families with small children and older couples.

Cleveland House

I love living at the Cleveland House. It's close enough to downtown to feel in the city, while still quiet and safe. It is a really great value too for the amount of space we have in the apartment. I wish they would update the gym.

Great place

Great place to live, but I wish it was cheaper. The apartment provides many amenities. The only downside is that I wish we had a washer and dryer in unit. I love how dog-friendly the building is. I hope management doesn't try to raise our rent between years.
