Worth it!

Woodbury might be a little farther than some other housing options for Ross students, but it's worth it for the space, price, and community. Plus, the shuttle and city bus are very reliable, making it easy to get around Ann Arbor.

Great Value

Woodbury is definitely an older complex but the apartments are spacious and they provide free shuttles to and from Ross School of Business.

Decent living space

Management is consistent, repairs are quick, the community is nice. A little far from the law school, but probably worthwhile considering the typical options closer. Maybe a little pricey, but no traps.

Quiet, Clean Standard Apartment

Nice, quiet apartment complex slightly outside of the campus area. We haven’t had many issues with the apartment, probably in part because we paid a little extra in rent for a recently renovated unit with washer/dryer. But for the few small things we’ve needed fixed, maintenance has been incredibly responsive. Management does some fun things to make it feel more neighborhood-y for those want it, like bringing in a food truck every week or two and offering free breakfast at the clubhouse every weekday morning. If you want to live away from undergrad chaos, this is a great place to consider.

Great space for the money!

Woodbury Gardens is a fairly large community with apartments and townhomes to rent. They also have a gym, a clubhouse with a pool table, foosball, conference rooms, etc., a pool, a dog park, a gym, a community shuttle to central campus, and lots of parking. It's about a 7-10 minute drive to campus, otherwise a 30min walk or a city bus ride (unsure of timing).

My unit itself (an upgraded townhome) is also great and you can tell they maintain the units regularly. The building itself is older but you really can't tell due to their maintenance and upkeep. Maintenance is also pretty quick on the two requests I've made so far. I moved from a space where outside maintenance on windows and walls did not happen, and it severely affected the windows, leading to a lot of water leakage. HERE, when we moved the paint job was new, new carpeting, and new windows! There is also a lot of closet and storage space. The office team is also super responsive and kind - which is a complete turnaround to what I had before as well. It's a quiet space overall and the community is made up of families and students.

They have a bunch of different floor plans for anything you're really looking for. Living in a 3bed 2.5 bath townhome allows my fiance and I to each have our own office, as well as living space to spread out in. Also variable: we have our own washer and dryer in unit, but some apartments may not have that (it would be shared with the building to my knowledge). Here we also pay for all of the utilities: water, gas, electric, internet, trash. Paying for water and trash is new for us (we've been renting throughout Ann Arbor for 5 years now) but trash is $8/mo and water is split between all of the residents at about $40-$50/mo/per resident from what we've been told (haven't had a water bill yet since we pre-paid at move-in). It does cost a little more, but you can also sign for a longer lease to prevent rent increases every year which actually made this place cheaper than our last.

Getting around Yost

Woodbury Gardens is its own community - so we don't get a lot of surrounding neighborhood effect and it's quieter.

I haven't had to go to school in person yet (due to the pandemic) - but once things are back in person, I would use the community shuttle to get to campus and possibly back depending on the time of day I head back. Otherwise, I would take the bus or walk. Walking takes about 30 min but the bus will cut down most of that since there is a city stop right at the entrance to Woodbury.
This neighborhood is "undergrad territory": lots of loud parties on the weekends. BUT it'll be this loud this close to campus, no matter what neighborhood, due to proximity to the big house
Safe, albeit there have been bicycle theft issues. It is quiet here in the community. Walking distance to UM Stadium, not far from Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Plum Market, etc...
Lots of green space if you have a dog or children. Close to the stadium, about 5-10 minute drive to Ross and downtown.
Not a lot around, but there is nice space to walk, public parks, and it is fairly quiet
Quiet, good for families, far enough to not deal with UM student traffic.
This is primarily an undergrad neighborhood. There are no bars nearby, just Dominos, Subway, and other small fast food places. It is also loud and noisy especially during games. It's very close to the IM gym and law school though, which is great.
Overall, a nice and quiet neighborhood that feels secure and is slightly removed from campus, so you're away from the hustle and bustle of the University. Definitely a grad student neighborhood. Close to public transit lines, and there is a nice grocery store near the apartment complex. Running trails are nearby, and road access to I-94 is pretty quick as well. Within an extended walk of campus, the Big House, and Ross. Really enjoy living here.
