Great Space

Love how big the apartments are for the price we're paying. We have a corner unit with balcony on a top floor so price is on the higher side at this building so there are more reasonably priced units. The building is on the older side but most units are decently renovated. Also, super close to the metro, biking trails to school, walking distance to whole foods, pentagon city mall, multiple shopping centers, etc. You really don't need a car if you're going to live here. Also, very safe and clean. Gym in the building. Rooftop. Huge groundfloor pool.

Great apartment

I've lived in Crystal House for a few months now and have loved it. It is very affordable given the area and access to public transit. There are also great amenities, such as the large pool, courtyard, rooftops, and gym.

Decent apartment close to metro, somewhat expensive

Decent apartment close to metro, but somewhat expensive. Most of the year it's quite good, but since the whole building is either all-heat or all-AC, in the spring and fall there are days when it's either really hot or really cold between switchover.

Pet friendly, has a pool.

Crystal House Review

The apartment has a lot of amenities like a pool and a gym. There is also a little shop in the basement. It is right next to 23rd street and the metro. There are plenty of fun places to hangout on the weekends. There is also plenty of parking for the building. The main reason I moved to Virginia is for safety. DC is an extremely unsafe poorly run city thus living in Crystal city is a relief. I would highly recommend crystal house for an affordable housing option.

Great Value

The complex has so many great amenities and it is very close to the metro. The only major downside is that utilities are not included in rent.

I only stayed here for a few months, but it was nice while I was there

I had to leave the complex to go back home due to coronavirus. While I was living there, pre-pandemic, the front desk staff were nice, the building was clean, and there were no bug problems. Because of the pandemic I wasn’t able to enjoy any of the amenities, but that wasn’t necessarily the building’s fault. They did try to make up for it by having virtual events. I didn’t go to any of those, so I cannot say for certain if they were worth it. I do regret paying an amenity fee for amenities I never used.

They recently switched management companies to JBG, and I’m not sure if that will change how things are run. They at least kept on most of the leasing office staff.

Really good property

This is a good, convenient apartment building. The grounds are nice (pool is excellent), the service has been good, and the rent is reasonable for the convenience.

Getting around Crystal City

Crystal City Reviews

Extremely safe and friendly neighborhood. I have gotten very involved in my local Catholic church that is right down the street. You can instantly tell the difference when you leave DC that your environment has changed. The people are friendly, you are not scared that you will get robbed, and there are no signs of blight. I would highly recommend the area.
Tons of restaurants within walking distance. Plenty of grocery stores within a 5 minute drive (Costco, Harris Teeter, Giant). Costco is walkable if you can carry your costco-sized groceries or if you bring your own cart.
Overall, Crystal City is a great place to live, and often overlooked when compared to Pentagon City. This is a pretty suburban area, with a mix of homes and apartment complexes. There are tons of restaurants nearby, and it's enjoyable since they're mostly walking distance. Added perk - Arlington Public Library tucked into the neighborhood between the main Crystal City area and surrounding Pentagon City area.
If you have a family it’s great, if your single it’s great also. Easy access to major highways and metro. Tons of activities and events through out the year. Safe environment to walk at night.
Generally a more commercial area, so it is pretty quiet at night. Crystal Drive is full of cool restaurants and bars.
Crystal City has been a convenient place to live because I work there. However, it is not the most accessible to AU. I leave work early, but I don't have enough time to metro there, so I have to take an Uber from work, but it's manageable because I only go to campus twice a week. Although that's a little inconvenient, the area is very safe for a woman living alone, and it's very easy to get to downtown DC. There are many restaurants and grocery stores nearby, as well as the Pentagon City mall, which is within walking distance. My only complaint is that there is a lot of construction.
The neighborhood is very walkable and has very accessible public transportation. It's not somewhere you typically would go out at night since nightlife is nonexistent, but Amazon just moved in and there is semblance of that changing. It's great if you are active (many gyms, parks, and Mt. Vernon Trail Access), enjoy restaurants like Chick Fil A (one right outside my building), and want to be close to everything.
It is close to almost everything. Metro? Check. Mall? Check. Grocery store? Check. Place to eat and drink? you betcha. I feel safe walking around at night. The only draw back is that there is a fire station close by and you get to hear the wailing of the sirens. You get use to them though.
