Crystal City

Quiet on the Weekends but Very Clean and Safe
Crystal City offers its residents with both an urban and suburban feel. Among the massive skyscrapers and glass buildings, there are blocks of quiet residential area surrounded by greenery and great places for a morning jog. Hamburger Hamlet, Cafe Pizzaiolo or Urban Thai are just some of the neighborhood's popular restaurants to enjoy some great food after work hours. Crystal City also holds several events such as the summer concert series or afternoon book discussions.

Reviewers write that it's quiet on the weekends due to the large amount of commercial buildings that populate the area. However, it's close enough to Alexandria and Pentagon City where you can find great spots to go out.

Crystal City — 8.5/10 Rating (based on 18 neighborhood reviews)
Crystal City is really nice and has a lot of great restaurants and grocery stores. Like the rest of DC, it's incredibly expensive unfortunately.

Crystal City is a nice neighborhood. It’s bustling during the week because a lot of people work here, but it’s not very residential so pretty quiet on the weekends. A lot of restaurants within walking distance and several grocery stores as well. The bar scene is almost nonexistent, but otherwise a really nice place to live if you don’t need to be around the DC social scene every night.

There is a grocery store in Pentagon City and it is open 24 hours. It is a very nice location and feels extremely safe. There are plenty of places to eat around Crystal City (ranging from Chick-fil-a/Chipotle to expensive steakhouses). Also Pentagon City has a extremely large mall, and a Costco as well.

Crystal Square Apartments
Lots of food options, but kind of a dead area on weekends, and it is all high-rises (so many office buildings) in the main area. But close to both Pentagon City and Alexandria (Old Town), and the upcoming Potomac Yards area, so it is convenient even if the neighborhood itself lacks charm.

This is a really great area to live in. There are a ton of places to go and explore, and it is really close to the Pentagon City Mall. Pentagon City also has a large number of great restaurants and other businesses so it was a fantastic area to be near.

Right by the national mall, the monuments, Pentagon City mall, the Pentagon, and DCA. The location is great for someone who wants Arlington space, but DC proximity. You're also an exit away from the airport, which I found extremely useful.

Overall, Crystal City is a great place to live, and often overlooked when compared to Pentagon City. This is a pretty suburban area, with a mix of homes and apartment complexes. There are tons of restaurants nearby, and it's enjoyable since they're mostly walking distance. Added perk - Arlington Public Library tucked into the neighborhood between the main Crystal City area and surrounding Pentagon City area.

It is close to almost everything. Metro? Check. Mall? Check. Grocery store? Check. Place to eat and drink? you betcha. I feel safe walking around at night. The only draw back is that there is a fire station close by and you get to hear the wailing of the sirens. You get use to them though.

good location to airport, 395, dc. Metro accessible. Lots of offices. Some good chain food options but not many fun interesting restaurants. Not much night life. A few bars but they have bad live music. Sports bar is good. Lower rent than DC or Clarendon

Crystal City is a transit hub with many fun restaurants and bars. Things get a little empty on weekends and some restaurants and stores are not even open on weekends when there are less commuters. Altogether, a very safe and fun place to live.
