Great Apartment!

Richmond Square has been great. Maintenance is always fast, it's not too noisy, and it's in a great location. Haven't had any major maintenance issues, and the minor issues I've had have been solved quickly. There is a doorman 24/7 and I've always felt safe here.

However, the apartment doesn't allow pets unless you have a service animal. There is no pool, but they just re-did the gym and community rooms. There is also free printing.

What you would expect

My experience with Richmond Square has been very good. Sometimes the management doesn’t communicate that well, but that also means that they give you your space. Maintenance is done promptly, and our packages are always handled properly. I would recommend Richmond Square.

Richmond Square

The apartment is really convenient to the office and is right across the street from the Ballston Metro. While it doesn't have the nicest bells and whistles, it has a game room w/ a pool table, a nice gym room, and a huge community room that you can reserve (doesn't cost money, only a deposit) to host friends.

The apartment is pretty solid and I haven't had any issues with the management either.

Good option close to the metro, cheap enough

It's a solid building. No big complaints. Very close to metro for access to DC/Tysons. Not as expensive as some surrounding buildings, but also not quite as nice. Spacious, good closet space, good gym, good mail/delivery service.

Units and amenities are nice, but lack upgrades you would get if you paid more for similar buildings in the area. Management is not the most responsive or helpful, but generally did not bother me.

Great apartment!

I really love my apartment in Richmond Square! The floor plan is very roomy, and the maintenance staff is very responsive. The apartment is steps from the Ballston metro and there a tons of food options nearby.

The only complaint I have is that the pipes are loud, so I can often hear water flowing in the pipes above my bathroom ceiling. Other than that, no other complaints!

Great location, but expensive

Great location - one block from metro, close to gym, grocery store, restaurants, etc. Building is in good condition with the exception of the elevators, which break every other day. Pretty expensive but to be expected in this area... overall a convenient, safe building.

Clean and nice, but $$$

Apartment is clean and relatively spacious. Recently redone amenities - gym, lobby, etc. Pretty expensive but you're paying for the location. Half a block from the metro so can't get much better. Plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, gym nearby. Pretty quiet. Could use more lighting in bedrooms.

Safe and Clean

It's safe and clean.

There is a Trader Joe's twenty minutes away (by foot) and a Harris Teeter about five minutes away. There is also a mall five minutes away that has as a CVS, movie theater, and a hair cutter.

The commute to the law school is about 20-25 minutes on the Orange or Silver line (the metro ride itself is about 10 minutes)

Richmond Square

Richmond Square is a nice place to live. It is across the street from Ballston Metro, which makes it extremely convenient, and there are bars and restaurants nearby (though they are mostly chains). A high school with a track is within walking distance, it's about a half-mile to the Custis Trail, and the gym is one of the best I've seen in an apartment building. We haven't had too many issues with things having to be repaired so I can't comment on that. One issue is that there is not enough storage space, but we're dealing. Overall a really nice place to live.

About Ballston

Living in the suburbs and still finding a vibrant city a few blocks away is what Ballston is all about. Reach the city with great ease, and find some great restaurants such as the Tutto Bene and the Caribbean Breeze, or maybe the Taste of Arlington Annual Street Fair. If that is not appealing enough...

Getting around Ballston

Ballston Reviews

49 reviews
I enjoy my neighbors and the common crowd around this area is young professionals it seems. We are close to george mason university and marymount college, so there is sometimes a younger crowd in the area as well. We do have some houses around the area that I have seen mainly have newly established families (i.e. little kids or new to the area) and I feel safe walking around my area at night.
I personally like being in Arlington. Everything is walkable and while it's not DC proper, it's very easy to get into the city via metro or a quick drive in. I've run to Georgetown in 20-30 minutes. There's stuff to do and there's everything you could need: gyms, grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, bars so close by. Ballston is a hub for transport so buses and the metro abound.
It can be a little noisy if you're too close to Wilson, Glebe or Fairfax roads, especially if you're right above the bus stop like I am, but nothing light background noise can't drown out; I sleep with a fan and I sleep like a baby. The public transport can't be beat, and it seems like a new restaurant opens every day. I'm interested in looking at houses in the area when I can afford to buy!
Ballston is by far one of the best areas of Arlington to live in. It has tons of access to bars, food, shopping, and a social scene, without being too loud of an area.
We are right across from Ballston Quarter which has a Union Market type of food court. The area is developing so quickly, very trendy and everything is within walking distance. Even though it's very walkable it does not feel as congested as DC.
I definitely feel that it's up and coming-- so much construction and many new restaurants and shops popping up! IT's very walkable. It's also pretty safe and it's close to highways, the Potomac, to DC, etc so the location is pretty great.
I love living in Ballston. I don’t have a car and never feel like I need one. Richmond Square is a block from the metro to take me into DC, and there are plenty of places to eat and things to do right here in Ballston.
Great spot for young people. There are tons of amazing restaurants and bars nearby that you can walk to. Also only a short metro ride to DC.
