Great as a luxury apartment

The apartment is overall very satisfying. However, the rent and additional fee like electricity, water, Internet, trash can add up to near 1900 dollars for 1B1B, recommend the A1loft apartment, can hold up to three persons living comfortably.

Best all-around student apartment complex in Durham

Station Nine has an amazing front office--they are courteous, prompt, friendly, and incredibly helpful. The gym, dog park, meeting rooms, and leasing office are all recently renovated and extremely well maintained. The location is hard to beat--within walking distance of two grocery stores and a plethora of shops and restaurants. Further, for Duke students or hospital employees, there are multiple employee/student bus stops within one block of the complex. Finally, the other tenants are a blend of senior undergraduates, graduate students, and some families, so it is a respectful and mature environment.

Station review

It was promised to us an apartment with wooden floor and carpet bedrooms, and it was not.
They showed us an apartment with a balcony and the one that was given has no balcony at all.
A little bit expensive for what it is. Not very "luxury"

Building is newly renovated

Newly renovated building

Pros - nice units, convenient for Fuqua students, all your class mates live near here, friendly staff, responsive to work orders.

Cons - internet is included, but it is not great. I'd rather buy my own internet. Also rent is expensive relative to rest of Durham.

Expensive, but best of the 9th street options

Expensive, but the similarly priced to other 9th street residential options. Very social building, walls are a little thin but am happy with my decision to live at Station 9.

Station 9

Station 9 has inadequate security features, they don't have a good package storage set up and it is unnecessarily expensive

A Quality Apartment

Station Nine is in a very secure location, and it's close to 9th street - walking distance from Tavern, lots of food, and some nice yoga studios and cute shops. It's also one of the stops on the Shooters bus which is always a plus! I never feel worried about my safety here, which is a huge plus as a girl living alone. The parking garage being included in the rent and the trash service is also very nice and convenient. The only downside is depending on your apartment location, you might hear lots of noise from the street or the pool, as noise tends to carry upwards.

Convenient location with sufficient facility

It's close to the grocery store and you can get almost whatever you need. The leasing office will help take care of letters and packages which is great, especially when you're spending a lot of time at school. The coffee machine in the club house provides a variety of options.

Station Nine

Great apartment building to be in the social scene and the Ninth street area. Walls can thin but may just be I have a noisy neighbor. Some apartment layouts are better than others. New renovations look good

Getting around Ninth Street

Ninth Street Reviews

264 reviews
Neighborhood has been great. Haven't been commuting to school all that frequently for obvious reasons, but takes less than 10 minutes to do so. I can grab everything I need and meet with friends all within walking distance. Durham could use more street lights in general, but in terms of safety, I think 9th street is your best option!
Best place to live hands down. Next to the supermarket, so many food options and many complexes in the area. Near downtown and Duke. Great if you’re new in town because it is super safe. Perfect if you have a car because the only downside is that depending on what Duke school you’re in it might not be walking distance.
Ninth Street is super walkable and majority of Fuquans live in the area. Definitely worth it to pay a little more to live in walking distance of so many classmates. Plus the restaurants on Ninth Street are great, and a short walk (~3 mins) to East Campus to use the walking trail!
Everything is close: other complexes like S9, B9; bars like flying bull, the tavern, supermarkets like Harris Teeter or Whole Foods, East campus hiking route.

You can get to the school by bus (45 mi) or by car (10 min). Carpooling is very commom.
Neighborhood is fine. All the Duke grad students live in the same area so it makes for a pleasant student community, and there are some decent restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance.
Harris Teeter and Whole Foods are right nearby, and the area feels generally safe. 5 min from the highway if you need to drive outside of Durham. ~10 min to get to the WaDuke/Science Drive.
The 9th St. neighborhood is great because it is within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants on 9th St. It could be better if it were closer to Fuqua and/or downtown Durham.
All the restaurants around the 9th street area are within 5 mins walk from the complex. The campus is an 8-10 minute drive. Downtown Durham is also an 8-10 minute drive away.
