Great Apartment, Odd Amenities

I love my apartment, but the amenities are a little odd. There are small amenities on each floor instead of having one floor with all of the amenities together. There is an indoor pool and sauna/steam room, great fitness center and outdoor deck with grills. Those are my favorite parts.

Convinient Comfort

Astoria Tower is a wonderful place to call home! The location is great with lots to do and see just outside my door. The amenities are great and I love working out in the indoor pool. There is a nice sundeck that we love to BBQ with friends at and lots of our friends live in the building as well, which is a major perk!

Great apartment , decent location

Astoria Tower is in a decent location in South Loop but it is one of the better luxury apartments in Chicago. It is new so facilities and appliances are not run down like the apartments in the North side of downtown. Gym, swimming pool and parking is great. Public transport is walking distance.

Great place to live

Astoria Tower is a great place to live. The building layout is good and it is walking distance from Grant Park , and Millenium park.
South loop generally doesn't have a cool vibe to it, so there is not much to do in this part of the loop. Management is great

Love My Home

I have lived at Astoria tower for quite some time now, and the overall experience has been great. I love the residents, certainly the happiest high-rise I have lived in. The amenities are the real kicker. I love the office space and rooftops. I will be living here as long as I am in Chicago.

Excellent building

I love Astoria Tower. The units are really great. Our kitchen appliances are high quality and the floor to ceiling windows ensure that we have an amazing view of the city. The building staff is also incredibly friendly (rare, I know)!

South Loop Reviews

Everyone is very friendly and it's a great neighborhood for dog lovers/owners. Great local restaurants and very walkable to absolutely everything you could need. Super close to every subway line. Very safe. Nearby college students can get rather loud on the weekends. Parking is expensive if you need to rent a monthly space.
It's a lot livelier than Hyde Park, and you are far more connected to the rest of Chicago. Printer's Row feels a lot safer too, and I do not feel as concerned when I walk around at night. It has great little bars and restaurants, and is close to a Trader Joe's, Jewel, and Target. There is a Mariano's and Whole Foods a few minutes further away.
The Loop and train stations are easily accessible from Printer's Row. It's also near Grant Park and the Lake, which are great during the summer. There are some decent restaurants and a few bars, but if you're young you'll probably be heading up to River North and further north for a night out. Overall, the neighborhood feels very friendly and has a great location. Also, new construction in the South Loop will surely make Printer's Row even better.
I love South Loop. It's close enough to Hyde Park that you don't feel like you have a terrible commute to get to the law school, and it's in the city enough that you feel like you're in Chicago.
The streets are nice and wide. It's busy, but not too busy. There are grocery stores and a couple of decent food options - it's a perfect compromise for a law student that still wants to be in Chicago proper.

Being near the Roosevelt stop, I think the South Loop is great. It's up and coming, with bars and restaurants, the L right there, and right next to the museums/lakefront.

I would be more hesitant to live very south of Roosevelt, like 18th or so. Things become much quieter and it's a farther walk to things.
Great proximity to Loop, but less touristy than River North and more lively than the West Loop. Downside: gets very congested when there's an event at Soldier Field or in Grant Park.
