Family friendly student housing

Baity Hill is very convenient for commuting, as it is only a five-minute walk to the MBA building. On the other hand, for everyday shopping you need a car (or the free public bus that comes once every 30 minutes). There is a small park on the property, which makes it a nice environment for families. The facilities are somewhat old, but maintenance requests are handled promptly.

Baity Hill Insights

My family and I loved Baity Hill. The rate of 9 is basically because some little things I believe can be better provided, such as a free parking per apartment. However, considering all what is provided, I can't help recommending the building.

Convenient location close to business school

The best part about Baity for MBAs is its proximity to Kenan-Flagler. Depending on your building, it can be a 5-10 minute walk to class, which is much more consistent and reliable than driving in the traffic that many others run into in Chapel. Even though off-campus apartments may only be a 5-10 minute drive from Kenan-Flagler, it can take many students at least 15-20 minutes to get to class with the everyday traffic. That said, it is not within walking distance to any restaurants or bars, but most people would drive/Uber to those anyway even if they live off-campus.

A con is parking for visitors. Some buildings do not have public parking available nearby, so you would need to purchase a visitor permit in advance, which is not ideal for quick drop-bys.

Convinient housing

Baity Hill offers a very convenient location for MBA international students, especially those that don't have a vehicle to commute to school.
But it is far from the North Campus, however there is B Bus that takes you there on weekdays

1b1b is the best option.

If you're a kenan flagler student, congrats. 5-15 mins walk to classroom(depends on which building you live in). Direct parking under each building(~$500 per year parking fee), free laundry, trash service, package center, a community office to communicate with, a maintenence team to contact to if you have a problem in your place, generally a great place to take a walk or a jog.

If you're not a business school student the commute experience would vary alot by where your classroom is. Free bus does go thru Baity Hill but from what I can tell the reviews are mixed, plus it's super hard to park in UNC. Y'all will have to have a clear idea of how to get to class.

As to the apartment the sound proof is pretty good horizontally but pretty bad vertically, so if you get the top floor(3F) congrats. The apartment functions pretty well, surprisingly good internet (120~150MB per second), dish washer and a oven, too bad they dont have a food disposer, also it's pretty spacial.

Overall pretty satisfied, if you're lucky enough to see the snow Baity looks pretty awsome during snow times, it's really safe around and pretty quiet, would recommend 1b1b!

Ideal for MBA students with families

It's great for families with children in a safe neighborhood.
The rent is very reasonable, including utilities. It's also great that you can walk to the MBA campus. However, there are no grocery stores or restaurants nearby, so I recommend buying a car.

Getting around Baity Hill

Baity Hill Reviews

55 reviews
Baity Hill is tucked away on aside Street that comes up next to campus. The only neighborhood is the actual apartment complex which is full of International students or students with families. The normal homes nearby seem calm and safe to walk by. It's a great area being so close to campus.
They are friendly, kind so I feel safe in my apartment.
Some of them are noisy sometimes, but basically, I am not bothered so much.
Love the complex and surrounding area. Very “neighborhoody.” However, very dark at night, not many lights.
Its campus so you get all the benefits but still removed from the undergrads which is really nice.
Quiet, peaceful, easy access to campus, highway and Franklin St
It’s a cute neighborhood to walk around. Feels very safe.
Baity Hill accommodates singles, couples, and families, and the neighborhood is very diverse. There are common areas to meet within the community, and you have great access to different areas of campus. The area is very safe at all hours, with minimal noise. Grocery stores are just a couple of miles away - you can get there by driving, convenient public transit, or the UNC shuttle service.
It's very quiet: mostly graduate students and some families. Very convenient for getting to McColl. It is tucked away in the corner of campus so if you want to walk anywhere, it takes about a mile to get into campus. I would recommend having a car for this neighborhood since there are no grocery stores within walking distance.
