Mason Farm Apartments

Could not possibly be any closer to the Kenan-Flagler Business School (3 min walk to class). Building is secure 24/7 with electronic key and all utilities to include internet and cable are included in the monthly rent. Because the complex is not located on a bus line, all residents can call the P2P service on campus after 7pm and receive a free can pick-up which takes you to Franklin Street.

Inhuman leasing office staff

Location, value and the neighborhood are all perfect except the inhuman leasing office staff. They don't take letters mailed to your apartment if the recipient is not on your lease, even if the recipient is your significant other or your parents, no matter how important those letter are. And to add someone onto your lease requires a lot of procedures. You may need a lawyer or a notary. Even if you told them, due to time constraint, could you just make one exception? They said no, and still mail the letters back to the sender. Their rational is, we want to protect our tenants. We don't want our tenants to get letters they don't want. Plus, our systems only allow us to take letters with recipients on the lease. And if they accidentally signed on your package, and if you ask, "why would you sign a package that doesn't belong to you?" Their response is, "we don't have time to check the recipient's name!!!"
I didn't see any leasing office act in such an inhuman and rude way like this one. Not sure if it is because the office is managed by the school, so it is more bureaucratic or what.

Most convenient for business school

Baity Hill are decent quality apartments, without any frills at a very affordable price. The short walk to school makes it absolutely the best location. Good for families, couples, and singles who don't want a daily commute to school. Max distance from any apartment to school is 8min, minimum distance is 1min.

Best for First Year and Exchange Students

Great place if you need to be just a short walk away from the school. Don't have to drive to school so that's a big plus and you are still on campus. Definitely recommended. Apartments are very clean and professionally managed and are great value for your money.

Baity Hill is a good value

Really close to the business school, but fire alarms are prone to going off in the middle of the night.

Baity Hill at Mason Farm Road

For a graduate student looking to avoid the stress and headache of finding a place to live, look no further than Baity Hill. It's graduate student housing that has everything you need, and nothing you don't. All utilities are included in the rent, and it's about a two (2) minute walk to Kenan Flagler Business School. The apartments are clean, quiet, offer plenty of light, have decent (perfectly functional but not the most modern) appliances, and are very secure. The maintenance staff always responds very quickly (although I haven't had to use them much). Overall, it's a no brainer if you are looking for convenience and affordability.

One big bonus - UNC offers free shuttle service to Baity Hill residents to and from Franklin Street (and other places around town). So you also save a bunch on taxi fares/Uber.

Getting around Baity Hill

Baity Hill Reviews

55 reviews
Baity Hill is tucked away on aside Street that comes up next to campus. The only neighborhood is the actual apartment complex which is full of International students or students with families. The normal homes nearby seem calm and safe to walk by. It's a great area being so close to campus.
They are friendly, kind so I feel safe in my apartment.
Some of them are noisy sometimes, but basically, I am not bothered so much.
Love the complex and surrounding area. Very “neighborhoody.” However, very dark at night, not many lights.
Its campus so you get all the benefits but still removed from the undergrads which is really nice.
Quiet, peaceful, easy access to campus, highway and Franklin St
It’s a cute neighborhood to walk around. Feels very safe.
Baity Hill accommodates singles, couples, and families, and the neighborhood is very diverse. There are common areas to meet within the community, and you have great access to different areas of campus. The area is very safe at all hours, with minimal noise. Grocery stores are just a couple of miles away - you can get there by driving, convenient public transit, or the UNC shuttle service.
It's very quiet: mostly graduate students and some families. Very convenient for getting to McColl. It is tucked away in the corner of campus so if you want to walk anywhere, it takes about a mile to get into campus. I would recommend having a car for this neighborhood since there are no grocery stores within walking distance.
