Great for value

Great on all points apart from the gym and lack of pool.
Already furnished, which is great.

Old, but easiest for 1Ys

The apartments are fully furnished which is convenient if you are staying for a short time only. Furniture and carpet are rather old and pretty worn down. During humid periods, walls tend to grow mold. However, moving in and out is very easy (also from abroad). Additionally, all utilities + internet are set up upon move in. I recommend staying here for internationals and 1Ys. Location is a 10 min walk from campus.

McManus - so convenient!

McManus is a cost-effective and no hassle option for international students. It is also very convenient and social, so I highly recommend it! Facilities are a bit old and outdated, but with minor investments you can make it significantly bette. I'd suggest that you visit McManus before renting it, so that you can assess whether McManus is a good fit for you.

McManus

The building is old and the kitchen is tiny and the units are outdated. This is a purely economical play as I left for the summer and did not have to pay rent.

Practical option

For an international student in Kellogg`s 1Y program, the apartment is a practical option: it is furnished, and rental process is through the University. It is an old building and not that well maintained, though.

Pretty old, twin studio better deal than one bedroom

Pros
- you can avoid paying while you do summer internship.
- Twin Studio (shared flat with flatmate) or Studio have reasonable price (resp. 1000$/month or 1200$/month)
- management is nice and responsive
- printing and meeting rooms (although you can also meet at the school which is nearby)
- lots of Kellogg students (depends on people, some prefer to have some independence)
- all costs included

Cons :
- Price for one bedroom at McManus is 1600-1700$ / month, which is very expensive, the building is really old. You can get the same surface for 1000-1200$.
- Aeration : There is no aeration / ventilation above the kitchen so it smells in the whole apartment when you cook.
- Old : building, corridors, everything is very old, it's already furnished by chairs / couch are very old, regular stains.
- Carpet : You have old carpet everywhere, sometimes 10-20 years old.

Overall, to be honest, I feel McManus is very old and expensive for what it is, people never say they like it, but "It's ok" or "it's convenient". I also feel it can be nice to have a break from school from time to time.
If you look for studio or shared flat, it's ok if you're fine with very old building.
If you look for one bedroom, I would really recommend to clearly look for a flat in Evanston (1500 chicago for instance). You'll find much better places or much cheaper than 1600-1700$/month.

Trouble free but not the best option

The location is great. And it is convenient for study group meetings, with all study rooms and printings available indoor. However, the building is older than I expected. The overall facility is outdated and the management needs to keep up with needs of current students.
