Best bang for buck

No big complaints. Great value. Close to elementary school and daycare. Many groceries within walking distance. Bus stop that goes to UCLA in front of complex.

Building and facilities are old. Appliances break easily, but maintenance fixes them. But for the value it is great, especially if you have children. It is a nuce place to stayfor a little while.

Overall is very good

While its overall a good place to live, safety could be better. I've had friends complain of having things stolen.

Great place to live

10-15 minutes from: airport, beach and school makes it a perfect place for living.
There is a great number of Anderson students which makes it easy to carpool and get together.
UCLA property gives the sense of being in a safe environment.
The place is overall very clean, and the amenities are very convenient, such as the bbq areas and playgrounds, as well as the laundry, pool and basketball court.
I know there are plenty of activities organizes which I unluckily have been able to participate in, but am sure are very interesting.
Maybe the only problem is that parking space is a bit narrow, but on the flipside it is a closed garage, safe for your car and other belongings.

Nothing luxurious but very convenient and I see many of my MBA friends with their partners or families. I love it ;)

Affordable; Great Value but not much to walk to

The Sepulveda side of University Village apartments are a great value and provides the potential for a good grad student/young family community. The rooms are pretty spacious. It's quite clear that there have been other renters before myself though, as the kitchen countertops and floors are pretty worn in some places. Repairs and maintenance requests usually get processed very quickly. There are several grocery stores nearby, and a park nearby.

The only real issue is that there isn't a great "neighborhood vibe" here. There's no real nice commercial area to walk to and the neighborhood is not very clean or walker-friendly. We just drive everywhere. Also, traffic to/from campus in rush-hour could take 30+ minutes.

UCLA University Village Apartments

The price is the lowest you can find in West LA. With the low price do not expect luxurious facilities or any amenities. Very basic but worth it for the money you pay. Includes all utilities but electricity, and 1 parking spot (usually an individual covered garage, which is good). One big hassle is that the complex is divided in half by the 405 freeway which makes difficult to go to the other side (socialize with the other side friends) without a car.

Convenient and best value to price

University Village is one of the best options if you are moving with your partner and the best one if you have children. Apartments are very well maintained and so are amenities. The environment is very familiar, there are many student living with young children. On the other hand, if you look for an undergrad-vibe, you will not find it there.

Fantastic value for money

1. Fantastic value for money. Seriously! You can't get a 2 BR for $1500 in LA!
2. Many MBA students live in University Village Apartments so there are opportunities to socialize.
3. The community is light on amenities (small pool, no gym) but it's conveniently located (5 miles from UCLA, 20 minutes drive to the beach)
4. Apartments are older but the management is very responsive and I haven't had any issues that weren't resolved within 24 hours.
5. It's UCLA housing so there are many non-Anderson families in the community.

Mar Vista Reviews

Feels very in the center of everything so things are not super close but not far either. Neighborhood is safe, stores and everything I need is close by.
This is one of the safer areas in LA, it’s about a 15 to 20 minute drive to UCLA, and the same distance to the beach. It’s also conveniently right at the intersection of the 405 and 10 highways. There is a very nice neighborhood across the street where we can walk, and there is a park. It is right next to a highway and Sawtelle is a busy street, so it can be quite loud. LA has a significant homeless population, and this exists around the housing as well, but the housing complex is a gated community. There are many restaurants nearby. Overall, it’s a good neighborhood.
There is a big park with grills, tennis courts, hockey court, baseball, soccer... trader joes, whole foods, ralphs, vons. No traffic around, in the middle of ucla, lax airport, venice/sta monica, downtown. Easy access to fwy.
Everything you need if you're not trying to go out on the town all the time. Close to a great farmer's market and the hot West LA neighborhoods.
Neighborhood is good. Convenient to 405 and UCLA. Some stuff within walking distance, plus short drive to Sawtelle, Palms, Venice, and Culver.
There's not a lot going on in the neighborhood, but it's fairly convenient to get to campus, and there are plenty of grocery stores. Before covid, it was sometimes inconvenient when I wanted to do social things in other parts of the city, since it can take a long time to go places by public transit.
These apartments are only 20 minutes away from campus by car, or about 35-50 minutes by bus. Two bus lines (SM Big Blue Bus lines 8 and 17) run near here and go straight to campus every 20 minutes, and we're also close to the Expo line which goes to Santa Monica and Downtown.

There are a lot of good restaurants and things to do nearby, and we're within walking distance to a Ralphs and a few other places. The stores around here have decent sized parking lots and don't get too busy. I don't feel unsafe walking around or taking public transport here.
There have been a couple of safety issues, but that’s fairly small considering the 1,600 units.
