Great deal

As good of a deal for 2 bedrooms as you can get on the Westside. Quite, gated, and close to all the Sawtelle restaurants and easy access to freeway.

School only allow married graduate students to live here, it is a really great place to live for couple like us who have kids.

University Village

High value for the price. Its inserted in an ucla community which is perfect for your time here. Most students with families live there and even when is farther away from school, it is worth it.

UCLA Housing

UCLA Housing complex for married students is a great value compared to other options in the same area. Although you have to go through an application process it's not hard to get an apartment before your arrival in LA.

University Apartments

University apartments are a great option for students with a wife/kids. The apartment is roomy and very clean although I've had some problems with upstairs neighbors being noisy. Location is good, about 15 minutes from UCLA and from Santa Monica. Would recommend it.

University Village Student Family Housing

I moved to LA with my wife and children and University Village was/is the best option for families. To live in the complex you have to be married or have a legal domestic partner, but you don't have to have children. The value can't be beat and the rent includes all utilities (minus electric), internet, cable and parking.

There are lots of common areas with playgrounds for the kids. Pool, basketball court, and classes for kids and adults. The complex is about 3 miles south of campus on the west side. You can drive to school but the Big Blue Bus also conveniently runs one block from the complex and takes you right to campus. If you want to live in University Village, get on the waiting list immediately after accepting admission to Anderson. Anderson will also send out a survey later (around April-June) to select the students who will receive a guaranteed placement. If you don't get a guarantee, it is still very possible/likely to get off the waitlist and into an apartment before school starts.

Great value and friendly with international students with family

We chose to live in the university apartment after reviewing offers closer to campus that not only were way more expensive, but also had heavy requirements on international students.

The University Village offers spacious apartments in great shape, in a centric location, which, while requires driving to school, is well located in relation to where Anderson events take place.

This community requires that you move in with a family member, so it is restricted to married couples, single parents, and domestic partners. It is a great community for people with small children as you can see them playing around often.

University Village

The University Village is a great place for families. You can't beat the price and their is a nice social group their for spouses and children. I am part of a carpool of Anderson students who share a parking pass (which also saves money). You can also get to school by bus or bike. We really like it, the only downside is that there have been a number of occasions where mail was stolen from the gates.

Mar Vista Reviews

Feels very in the center of everything so things are not super close but not far either. Neighborhood is safe, stores and everything I need is close by.
This is one of the safer areas in LA, it’s about a 15 to 20 minute drive to UCLA, and the same distance to the beach. It’s also conveniently right at the intersection of the 405 and 10 highways. There is a very nice neighborhood across the street where we can walk, and there is a park. It is right next to a highway and Sawtelle is a busy street, so it can be quite loud. LA has a significant homeless population, and this exists around the housing as well, but the housing complex is a gated community. There are many restaurants nearby. Overall, it’s a good neighborhood.
There is a big park with grills, tennis courts, hockey court, baseball, soccer... trader joes, whole foods, ralphs, vons. No traffic around, in the middle of ucla, lax airport, venice/sta monica, downtown. Easy access to fwy.
Everything you need if you're not trying to go out on the town all the time. Close to a great farmer's market and the hot West LA neighborhoods.
Neighborhood is good. Convenient to 405 and UCLA. Some stuff within walking distance, plus short drive to Sawtelle, Palms, Venice, and Culver.
There's not a lot going on in the neighborhood, but it's fairly convenient to get to campus, and there are plenty of grocery stores. Before covid, it was sometimes inconvenient when I wanted to do social things in other parts of the city, since it can take a long time to go places by public transit.
These apartments are only 20 minutes away from campus by car, or about 35-50 minutes by bus. Two bus lines (SM Big Blue Bus lines 8 and 17) run near here and go straight to campus every 20 minutes, and we're also close to the Expo line which goes to Santa Monica and Downtown.

There are a lot of good restaurants and things to do nearby, and we're within walking distance to a Ralphs and a few other places. The stores around here have decent sized parking lots and don't get too busy. I don't feel unsafe walking around or taking public transport here.
There have been a couple of safety issues, but that’s fairly small considering the 1,600 units.
