Fantastic value for money

1. Fantastic value for money. Seriously! You can't get a 2 BR for $1500 in LA!
2. Many MBA students live in University Village Apartments so there are opportunities to socialize.
3. The community is light on amenities (small pool, no gym) but it's conveniently located (5 miles from UCLA, 20 minutes drive to the beach)
4. Apartments are older but the management is very responsive and I haven't had any issues that weren't resolved within 24 hours.
5. It's UCLA housing so there are many non-Anderson families in the community.

Convenient and best value to price

University Village is one of the best options if you are moving with your partner and the best one if you have children. Apartments are very well maintained and so are amenities. The environment is very familiar, there are many student living with young children. On the other hand, if you look for an undergrad-vibe, you will not find it there.

Affordable; Great Value but not much to walk to

The Sepulveda side of University Village apartments are a great value and provides the potential for a good grad student/young family community. The rooms are pretty spacious. It's quite clear that there have been other renters before myself though, as the kitchen countertops and floors are pretty worn in some places. Repairs and maintenance requests usually get processed very quickly. There are several grocery stores nearby, and a park nearby.

The only real issue is that there isn't a great "neighborhood vibe" here. There's no real nice commercial area to walk to and the neighborhood is not very clean or walker-friendly. We just drive everywhere. Also, traffic to/from campus in rush-hour could take 30+ minutes.

UCLA University Village

UCLA University Village is an economic option for students with a family. The campus is surrounded by various grocery store, gas station, fast food chain and a park where you can play tennis, basketball and many sorts of sports. Without traffic, it takes about 15 mins driving to Anderson, 15 mins to Santa Monica beach and 20 mins to LAX.

On campus housing

The housing complex I live in is pleasant. A lot of amenities like a pool, gym, free yoga every Tuesday, recreation center and conveniently located by the highway. The one drawback is that it isn't really a social community as there is a mix of grad students, young professionals and families here.

Living in the UV apartments

Great rent but next to 405 which can be noisy. Also the gates for both the cars and people often don't work properly. This is a big security risk. However the atmosphere feels safe as children and family are usually in the courtyard and playgrounds.

University Village

It's a great place to live if you're married or have kids. It's four miles from school, which can be a commute compared to Westwood or Brentwood. Aside from that, it's a great option--much lower than market rents.
