Very good value for given price

So far I like it. I am not a very party person and that’s why I love this quiet place.

Positive experience but a bare bones place

Poplar West has been everything I needed. It's spacious, thick walls, great light, and it's walking distance to campus. These apartments are definitely older: cracks in walls, aged wood floors, not so stylish appliances. To be totally honest, I'm pretty sure the price is going to increase like $200 in the next year, and I plan to move. The value was a huge reason I'm living here now and I don't think my apt is worth that increase. Unfortunately it's probably still the cheapest or one of the cheapest in the LaSalle area.

Poplar West

The location is fantastic (<1 mile) bike or walk to TSCHE, the rent is unbeatable, and the community is very friendly and almost entirely gradaute students and young professionals. Highly recommend for pet owners (only $100 one-time fee & $10 per month), awesome dog park in the center of the neighborhood and plenty of fellow dog owners.

The buildings are old and there are cockroaches in all of the apartments. However, management is very good about sending exterminators. After a rough first month, we have had almost no pest issues since.

Close to Duke and affordable neighborhood

I have had a good time in this apartment. It is partially furnished (stove, fridge, washer, and dryer). It is close to West Campus (I spend 15- or 20-minutes walking to the School of Public Policy and less than five minutes biking). It is close (15 to 20 minutes' walk) to a grocery store that offers a wide variety of articles. Highly recommended for someone who wants to save money, walk, and have a quiet life in Durham.

Just fine

Good points:
The location is good - very close to Duke Bus Stop and just 20min walking from Law School
For every problem that I had, I just contacted Trinity Office and they sent someone to fixed - i.g.: spray the apartment, change the lamp, fix the switch, etc.

Weak points:
The apartment wasn't in very good condition when I arrived. I had to clean by myself.
I also had problems with cockroaches. However, it seems quite normal in this area.

Its a good place with a good price for rent

the apartment is a bit old, and some things need to get fixed, but the management has been very responsive to my requests. It is a good price for this much space as long as you don't mind living in a place that is old

Great property

Awesome rent prices and extremely pet friendly (dog park across the street and only $10/month rent increase). The units themselves are old and kind of falling apart, but they are large and management is incredible and respond very quickly to any maintenance issues that may arise.

Good quality for the rent price

Considering the price of the house, it provides great value. There is a big front yard and this specific unit has a lot of windows so plenty of sunlight.
A point of improvement is pest control as it is next to a group of trees and there is lawn all around thus, a lot of insects usually come into the house. Finally, it's location is an advantage as it is close to bus stations and Duke West Campus

Overall nice, but keep in mind that the buildings are old.

Overall a nice place to stay. I like the fact that it is a stand-alone housing (townhouse) so there is no real neighbor issue (at least not for us). The area itself seems pretty safe (to my standard). Few issues I would complain about. One is that the building is very old with cranky hardwood floor and bad insolation. It makes a lot of noise when we walk up and down the stairs, and when our neighbors are doing the same, we can hear them too (sometimes can even hear them turn on the shower). During winter the heat escapes pretty fast and the heating would have to run constantly to keep the house warm.

Reasonable price with reasonable service

We are in the unit that close to Erwin Terrace and campus, about 15 min walk to Pratt. The rent is reasonable and the house has nothing fancy but all the necessary appliance.

Can be a little sketchy sometimes but I sacrifice that for being close to the hospital. Usually try to avoid walking alone at night but have done it plenty of times after staying late in the hospital or having to get there at 4 AM and have never had any issues. A nice selection of food/drink options just down the street!
Very convenient to the hospital and campus (walking distance) and some chain restaurants with a few local spots, but overall not a very interesting neighborhood. Very bike-able to 9th st area, less so to downtown but still only about a 20-min bike ride
Very close to campus, extremely convenient to the hospital. Many students live in the complexes nearby. Some food options, but no real "neighborhood." The main attraction is that it's as close to living on campus as you can get off campus.
Great that the neighborhood is so close to the hospital which is great for me as a student. The apartment complex is close to a bus stop / a pretty loud street which sometimes has some noise but overall no major issues.
Mostly apartments. Conveniently located to Duke and hospitals, plenty of amenities on Hillsborough Road, though if you want good food you may need to drive a bit.
Not the safest place, but the apartment complex has a garage so you don't need to walk outside at night. So close to the medical school/convenient.
safe neighborhood. We haven't had much crime and Trinity Properties has an annual safety meeting to give helpful tips on safety for the area.
Close to campus, but few grocery store and dining options in the immediate area. Biggest perk is proximity and that's really it.
