Great Experience but very dependent on your landlord

I have really enjoyed living in the President, I chose to live here for the rent and the proximity to GW. Living here is paying for the proximity to GW. There is a 24 hour front desk who are fantastic. I think how someone feels living in this building is dependent on their landlord, location of apartment, and how much they pay in rent. My landlord is very responsive which is helpful. The biggest problem the building currently has are smokers in the building but they are actively working on it. Great location, easy place to live.

Secure

Convenient to school, secure, package delivery works well, front desk are nice enough, but apartments are small and repairs take awhile.

Good building

Apartments are condos, so each landlord can be different. Mine was great though.

Unbeatable Location

The location of this building is selling point -- it takes me less than 5 minutes to walk to the law school! You are also directly next door to Whole Foods, and less than a block away from the Foggy Bottom Metro, a CVS, the Marvin Center, and various restaurants. I rent directly from the owner, so I can't speak too generally, but I liked my studio. It was small, but a great value, and comfortable for a couple to share. The building seems to be mostly professionals and grad students, few noise problems, but not very social. The staff is friendly and the building has laundry in the basement. Overall would definitely recommend, especially for first-year students getting used to the area!

Too expensive, but good location

It is a good location, just a block from Whole Foods, and two from the Foggy Bottom Metro. But, it is very expensive. The building is old and has no amenities but you pay as if had all the amenities. It is better to look for other buildings in the area, better prices and some amenities.

The President

I have lived in this apartment for a year and while the location is amazing, I have had a severe bug problem. I also don't like that pets are not allowed in the building. My landlord is a great person, but getting maintenance orders completed has been slow. The front desk staff are really friendly and like to get to know the residents.

Location is key!

This is an awesome location for anyone working or attending GW. Also extremely close to the World Bank, IMF, State Department (walking distance). Its very convenient to DuPont Circle nightlife as well. But most importantly, a block from the metro and right next door to Whole Foods!

Building has professionals and students. Each apartment is different however, so do check them out. Elevators are a bit dated, laundry in the basement, and the building does smell like weed occasionally. The front desk staff is awesome!

President Condos

I have a great landlord, but the constant construction across the street - ironically caused by GW - has been a pain during exams. GW only got involved once I emailed their corporate counsel. The contractor continues to violate DC building code start times and GW has dropped the ball. The management company failed to inform residents and landlords that the construction was taking place and apparently signed off on some agreement with the Contractor without ever thinking about how the noise would affect apartment dwellers. It's awful.

Old, overpriced apartment, but in a great location

The President building is old and very expensive. It is managed by a company but the apartments are owned by landlord. The building has nothing. The only good thing is location.

Love this area, right near Logan Circle and 14th street which has so much good food and nightlife!
Amazing neighborhood. Close to GW and close to so much good food and nice restaurants.
Sometimes noisy, but the front desk quickly deal with it if you ask
Great, Safe neighborhood with great food and close to campus.
Foggy Bottom/West End are great for 1Ls -- you will get to know the area around school and you will be conveniently within a few blocks of GW. There are a lot of food options, but night life is lacking (though you're a short walk to DuPont and Georgetown). There are plenty of busses and metros around.
Good only in the sense that it is near the school, that you can receive warnings from the school and D.C. (if signing up), that you can be assured of safety generally even if coming in late due to pulling off night studies in the library. However, noise levels are high, so you can hardly study indoors at home because of people wanting to earn money in exchange for their loud and terrible performances. This means that you may ultimately end up outside for work or rest during morning/afternoon. Noise in the evening can be high too due to some people having gone drunk. Noise (some loud trucks and mostly machine sounds) and lights can be too much for sleeping deeply.
It's really only convenient because of how close the law school is. Otherwise, I would not live here. Definitely a business/corporate area that shuts down on the weekends. Not a lot of options for going out to eat unless it's either overpriced or fast food. The only grocery store that's walking distance is Whole Foods, which I personally hate shopping at.
The Aston is the furthest GW housing from the campus, so we had to walk more than any other student to get to class. We are also the furthest away from any Metro station, but still not considerably far when you look at the big picture. There are grocery stores, bars, and restaurants nearby which is a perk, but it is pretty noisy around here. But I guess that's anywhere in Downtown DC. There are always cars honking, ambulance sirens, etc. But the area seems pretty safe.
