Location, Location, Location

This apartment building is located right in the heart of Foggy Bottom--one block from the metro, two blocks from whole foods, across from the hospital, can't ask for a bitter location. AND there is a pool! The front desk staff are wonderful too!

New Management

I have not been here very long, and we just got new management in a few months ago so things may change soon. According to a recent apartment-building wide email, only 30% of property owners at Jefferson House actually live in their unit, meaning that 70% of the community is renters. Despite being close to GW campus, there is a good mix of age ranges here.

Great Location, Everything Else is Meh

This location is great which is the reason I chose this apartment. There seems to be a good mix of people in the building: Undergraduates, graduate students, young professionals, young families, and retirees. I have only lived here a year, and have encountered quite a few problems: several water outages, a water break that rendered the front of the building inaccessible for quite some time (that wasn't fixed for ~a month). That being said, my experience has been adequate and overall satisfactory.

Close to School and Wonderful Lighting

The apartment complex has 24 hour desk service for packages and 24 hour laundry facilities. My studio is beautiful and sunny and faces the outside pool that's open from May-September. As of late, there have been a couple of problems with the water, but they have been fixed quickly. I enjoy living here very much, there have been NO pest issues and we recently got new laundry machines.

About Foggy Bottom

The naturally foggy surroundings of the area gives it its own unique name - Foggy Bottom. Unfortunately, its name does not highlight the excellent quality of music, dance and drama practiced in the neighborhood every single day. Lots of pretty row homes, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, and my school. Lots of trees and a dog park near-by. Overall, very pretty and scenic to walk through, and also close to other neighborhoods and essential stores.
I like living in Foggy, it's easy to get to school but also is close to Georgetown, which is fun for food and shopping. The northern part of Foggy (near GW) is about 10 minute walk to Dupont too, which is great.
Short walk to Georgetown, West End, and Dupont Circle. Many restaurants nearby and close to metro so you can get to anywhere in the city conveniently.
Nice to be so close to school. Short walk from the mall and other tourist destinations. Bar/restaurant/night life scene leaves a lot to be desired.
It is really close to campus so a lot of GW folks live here! You can reach a lot of places on public transit.
Edge of Foggy Bottom bordering Georgetown - very safe and peaceful!
I personally enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood and its location within a close walking distance of campus, Georgetown, the water, and convenience/grocery stores. The neighborhood is also very safe, I am a woman in my early 20's and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night near my apartment.
Foggy Bottom is a great place to live given the proximity to the law school. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle which are fun places to go out with friends and classmates. It's also has lots of bike racks for the Capital Bikeshare nearby, and the Foggy Bottom metro stop is a few blocks up the street.
