Winton House Review - First Year Grad Student

I would highly recommend Winston House to any students moving to the DC area (if you can afford it). The building is nice, there is always someone at the front desk to help with anything needed, and it is extremely quiet. Amenities include a gym, rooftop with grill area, an events room, and a co-working space. Pets are allowed. It is very close to campus (5 minute walk), as well as two different Metro stops. From here, it is extremely easy and quick to access the rest of the city. We are close to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and some other smaller grocery stores. The only downside to this building is that it is extremely expensive. But 100% worth it as it puts you in a good, clean, quiet neighborhood within walking distance of nearly everything you would need.

Not a good building

DO NOT LIVE HERE! Management is terrible. The building has been under heavy construction for months, limiting use of any amenities that would otherwise be available. The front desk staff and maintenance team are the only good aspects to this building. I seriously recommend living anywhere else!

Winston House Review

The management and front desk workers are great. There's always someone at the front desk besides on holidays, which is a nice safety feature. Gym is very small, but there is a library and community room. Rooftop but no pool. It's clean and no issues with pests. Air conditioning is not controlled. The apartment amenities like the fridge, microwave, washer/dryer are old but still work fine. Also, having a washer/dryer is great. Clean apartment and a good amount of closet space for one person.

Solid Place

I enjoy living at the Winston House. It is close to school and the management team is very nice. Whenever my roommate and I have had problems, the team has taken care of it in a timely fashion.

Close to campus!

Great location a 5 minute walk from campus (and the GW metro station). Also close to the Farragut North metro station (10-15 minute walk). The property has some issues like most old buildings do with occasional flooding and pest issues but is generally nice. I love having a gym to use but it has strict 6AM-11PM hours.

Good balance of campus proximity and proximity to DuPont/west end

The building is pest-free, and a nice halfway point between school and Dupont/ other cool parts of town, and is walkable to grocery stores. The apartments at the front, at least, have really good light and decent balconies. All the management functions are decently good, e.g. mailroom, front desk. Maintenance has been prompt. There is an unimpressive gym and rarely used communal space, and the roof is modestly furnished but nothing fancy.

Solid price for location and value

Converted 1bed to a 2 bedroom.

Small apt, but with nice kitchen, roof access, and basic gym.

Winston house

Experience has been good so far. We had appliance issues right after moving in and those were fixed quickly. Some promises not met in terms of getting new features in the apartment. Staff is very nice.
