Very accessible option/a bit pricey
Wake Forest Properties is the rental company owned by the university. They have houses, mostly pre-WW construction, for rent to graduate students. The location is hard to beat, with all being within an easy walk from the school. Common areas (living room, kitchen, bathrooms) are cleaned once a week by professional cleaners. Occasional old house problems - bugs, maintenance on heating/cooling, occasional leak. Wake Properties usually responded to non-emergency issues within a week. Can't necessarily choose your roommates.
