Meridian at Gallery Place

This is a great location, and accommodating to roommates. I live in a 2 bed 2 bath with a sunroom, and my bedroom is the sunroom. This set up allows for cheap rent for the small sunroom, and brings the rent down for the large bedrooms. The space is enough for 3 people and both bedrooms have walk in closets. One recommendation I would have is to request a unit with an extra window in the living space, to bring in more sun when the doors are closed.

Solid place if commuting

It's a good location. The staff's good. We've only had a couple of issues. It's important to know that these apartments come with a sunroom that can serve as a 3rd bedroom. $3500 for 2 bedrooms is expensive but it's a good rate for 3 bedrooms.

Stay away from Meridian Gallery Place

This place is awful. Air conditioner was broken every 2-3 weeks during the summer and management refused any remedy to fix - even blamed us by saying it is unreasonable to have the temperature below 74.

Elevators are frequently broken. It might take you 8 minutes to get down from one of the top floors. Stairs are not an option - they lock the doors.

Management is very rude and not helpful.

Grills are frequently broken.

There is often trash/food scattered throughout the hallways.

Remodeling the building currently so it is very very loud during business hours. Not able to WFH because of this.

Adequate experience but perhaps too expensive

The apartment building itself is nice with a lobby, reception desk, gym and other amenities like a club room and pool. Our apartment is a decent size and my roommate and I fit very comfortably, both with our own rooms and bathrooms. We have had a few problems with our AC unit that in turn results in an incredibly high electricity bill. While management has sent over a number of people to work on this, the problem has yet to be resolved. Other than that the experience of living at the Meridian has been good.

Living at Meridian Gallery Place

I have been living here for about 6 months now. I like the location, as it is right in the heart of Chinatown. Its pricey, but I could not ask for better access. It is metro accessible, and I can travel right to work very easily. I am also pleased with the gym. It is small, but it gets the job done.

Great for what you pay!

Very young professional centered, social, not as many families live in it, but a great environment to live. Definitely the least expensive of its category. The gym is great. The rooftop pool is also fabulous when it is warm outside. I have absolutely loved my experience living here!

Great place to live for young professional

The apartment has a sunroom and den, so a couple of the roommates have to sacrifice, but it's worth it for the great location and amenities. Everyone seems like they are under 30, and it's easy to go to work because there's bikeshare, circulator, all the metro lines, and it's walkable from so many downtown areas.

Good value overall

Good place to live especially for younger and gives option to move someone into sun room to reduce rent. Walls are very thin and parking is expensive but overall very good. Kitchen is small. The garbage disposal is on the wrong side of the sink, can barely fit normal sized dishes let alone big pots and pans (baffling how that could even happen, guessing a screw up no one bothered to fix). Burners on the stove are poor quality and tilted. Make it hard to cook and clean overall.

Penn Quarter Reviews

There are always places to eat and things to do. Also the apartment is only about 1 mi from the Mall so it's great if you are a runner. In terms of getting to work it typically takes me 50min-1 hour on the metro one way and the metro stop is a couple of blocks from the building. I typically drive to work which (by commuting slightly before peak morning traffic and slightly after peak evening traffic) is around 35-40 min one way. The building is right off of 395, which means you don't have to do too much city driving ever.
Penn quarter is close to most places. Out of three roommates, two of us work in NoMa and one works near Farragut. All three of us walk when it is nice weather. The area doesn't have a lot of really cool, cultural bars but for every day places they are totally fine. There are lots of nearby groceries - safeway and walmart are walking distance from me. Its a safe area that can be a little pricey for rent.
I enjoy the fact that there are numerous places to eat and happy hour at in the neighborhood. My only complaint is that it doesnt necessarily have a "club" or "lounge spot".
Great neighbourhood if you like city life. Busy, loud, fairly safe area. Extremely accessible to the metro. Fairly central area. Near the Verizon center. Lots of restaurants and bars. Near the national mall. Can walk to work if I wanted to. Grocery stores close. No complaints for living in Chinatown!
The area is safe and easily accessible by bus and metro. You can access the Red, Blue/Orange and Yellow/Green within a few blocks of walking. The area is close to Chinatown but far enough away if you want a break from all the people and. There are great restaurants and bars that are great for both residents and those new to DC.
There are great restaurants, a weekly farmers market, plenty of events, walking distance to the mall, and many museums. It's within walking distance to a couple of grocery stores and it's easy to access the busses and metro.
Very safe and lots of restaurants and bars. It is great for dinner and happy hour. Very close to the mall and all the monuments. Great for running and outdoor activities. Life night and day.
Tons of awesome restaurants nearby! If you’re more of a bar hopper it’s perhaps not for you, but close metro means those spots are a 10 min ride away!
