Couldn't be happier

My apartment is super great. I love the area - short walk to the Verizon Center, great news as a Wizards season ticket holder! Apartment is spacious and great for pregames. The hardwood floors make it even easier to clean up. Only complaint is all the sunlight in my room until I got blacklight curtains!

Quiet and conveniently located

I have been living at 425 Mass for three months and have no complaints. The location is great- central to several good restaurants, two metros, and a grocery store. The building is very dog friendly. It has the largest rooftop in DC with two pools! The building is a little bit pricey, but better than most spots in the area and the rest of DC.

For young professionals that make a decent paycheck.

The location is great, in the sense that you are smack in the middle of Washington, DC! There are quite a bit of homeless people in this area, though. As a young, smaller-framed woman, this can sometimes be a little alarming but I to be honest it's not as scary as you would think. I think the building itself is beatiful and modern and all my visitors have been very impressed with the place. It's a huge premium that you're paying, but if you can afford it, then I definitely recommend it.

Great apartment/staff, nice location

425 Mass is a great place to live! The apartments themselves are beautiful and if, for whatever reason, anything goes wrong in your apartment, the maintenance staff will take care of it right away. The Management team is also incredibly helpful sweet and helpful!

So far, so good, staying for the foreseeable future

We moved into 425 Mass in late 2014 because it was affordable, offered great amenities (gym, pools, entirely accessible roof). With all the new construction in this area, new rents aren't necessarily as competitive as they were then, but it's still a good deal. The building is increasingly occupied mostly by college and graduate students, but it is still quiet and neighbors generally respectful. Management could be a bit more strict about access and enforcement of its own policies. (Anyone can walk in the front door and into any part of the building, despite constant e-mail reminders about guest rules and access policies.) Because the building was originally designed to be condos, its overall amenities and unit finishes are a step above many of the newer buildings in this neighborhood finished after 2009. The neighborhood is slowly but surely coming together, and with the completion of the Capital Crossing expansion over I-395 and (hopefully) the project to build over the train yards behind Union Station, it should continue in that direction.

Roof Top

Amazing roof top for hosting. Dark hallways, units themselves have a lot of natural lighting. The kitchen is average. If you live in the den of a one bedroom, it is not ideal. Hardwood flooring is great in the units but not a fan of the carpets in the hallways.

Great amenities, nice units, expensive

The units are very nice, the amenities are great and the location is super convenient to downtown CD and 395. Biggest complaint is that residents are forced to use Comcast and resident parking is more expensive than parking for non-resident commuters.

Fantastic apartments

I've enjoyed living at 425 Mass. I'm paying $2200 for a 1 bedroom, which while on the pricier side, has been certainly worth it. The amenities are some of the best that I've seen in DC, the units have high end finishings, and the location is really great. When ever my friends visit, they rave about the views from our roof deck!

Great location, some of the best amenities

Our experience at 425 Mass has been nothing but superb. The quality of service the management company puts in is very apparent throughout the building's amenities. Any service needed in our apartment has always been answered quickly and with courtesy.

The amenities at 425 are some of the best in the city. The rooftop itself is a huge selling point and is easily the biggest in the DC metro area. The gym is not huge, but is big enough for cardio and occasional weightlifting.

Best of all, the building's location on Mass Ave is ideally located for restaurants, errands, and commuting to most offices around the city. Highly recommend 425.

Mount Vernon Square Reviews

I love the location - pretty close to everything you want - shopping, entertainment, restaurants, bars, public transportation, etc. I also like the residential feel of the area, unlike apartment buildings down in Chinatown. Unfortunately, there is some higher rates of car break ins and robberies in the neighborhood, due to a relatively affluent population adjacent to lower income areas. Additionally, there has been a crackdown on prostitution in the area - I saw a few women in the early morning hours, and I am glad the police are focusing on this issue. Other than the normal problems of lack of parking, a very attentive police team writing tickets, I love the area!
As previously mentioned, the neighborhood is great with lots going on, tons of restaurants and the Safeway right next door. Super accessible to everything, especially since we're a 5 minute walk from the Gallery Place metro (red line).
I really love Mount Vernon Square as a neighborhood. It is really close to the national mall, great restaurants, shopping, and you have access to multiple different metro lines.
Lots of restaurants, multiple grocery stores nearby and right near 14th street. Metro is a bit limited outside of the green and yellow line but bus lines are very accessible
Safe area close to Chinatown to the east (union station past that) and then 14th street corridor to the west (dupont past that). You can walk almost anywhere in NW DC.
The area is growing so quickly! New restaurants and buildings are popping up all the time. It's also very easy to get any part of the city from the neighborhood.
I enjoy having tons of restaurants and bars around---from neighborhood pubs, to fast casual restaurants, to sit down joints, to cafes. There's a lots to like.
#1 way to describe living downtown/mt vernon square is convenience. There's a 24 hour Safeway, I can walk nearly everywhere, and always feel safe walking.
