Love 618 South Main

I have loved living at 618 South Main. It's expensive for Ann Arbor ($2100/month for a 1BR), but I'm able to split the cost with my partner and have found that the benefits of living here make up for the price.

There are free social events in the building about once a month (with drinks and food), yoga classes a couple of times a month, and a book club that just started meeting last fall. My favorite amenities are the free Starbucks coffee, pool and hottub, outdoor grills, great gym (never too busy), and the office workspace (printing, able to rent it). The management is wonderful -- they are very active and repairs are completed within one day of a request.

I also love the community. Unlike most apartment buildings in Ann Arbor, there are no undergrads who live here so the building is a lot quieter. Most of the people living here are grad students, but there are also families, visiting professors, and young professionals in the area. There are a ton of dogs in the building, which is amazing if you like to see puppies/dogs on a daily basis.

Great amenities, great staff

As a student coming from a big city and looking to live alone, this is by far the best option. It is a nice building, where you don't need to worry about undergrads running around and being loud. I make great use of the amenities, including the pool, hot tub, gym, printer, and free coffee. The building hosts lots of social events (with free booze) and also offers free donuts every Friday and free yoga several times a month. The staff is very responsive and personable.

618

Great building, management is super nice. There are a lot of dogs which is great for dog owners, but not the best if you don't have one.
Many Rossers living in the building and ample community space.
Gym is well maintained and parking underground is amazing.

Worth the price

Lots of MBAs, a few professionals, a couple older couples. Rooms are spacious and nearly soundproof (concrete walls/ceilings/floors). The common areas are perfect to reserve for free for any social events. Great location: 15 min walk to Ross, 10 min walk to downtown, 10 min walk to the stadium.

Great place to live

Awesome amenities, good location. Appliances are very new and the walls are pretty soundproof. Definitely among the more expensive places to live, but has the quality to match it.

Excellent MBA Residence in AA

618 South Main is a great building, complete with most amenities you will need and the office staff works effectively a concierge service as well (sending / receiving packages, etc.). The rooms are updated albeit a bit on the smaller side especially given how much rent is. However, the price is worth it because of the amenities, helpful staff, and the dozens of other MBA students that also live in the building. The only issue with living here (as well as living within a couple block radius) is a train that will pass by the area a few times a week.

I love the Old West Side because it's a quieter neighborhood with parks, trees, single family homes, and neighborhood traditions like the Old West Side Home Tour and the Westside Art Hop. If you're trying to escape from undergrads, I'd highly recommend looking into the Old West Side.

I live at the edge of Old West Side (618 South Main), which is less than a 10 minute walk to the law school (a straight shot up Madison Ave). Although Old West Side doesn't have a lot of restaurants or bars, it's only a 7 minute walk to all of the downtown restaurants and bars. Old West Side is home to some of my favorite places: Washtenaw Dairy, Jefferson Market, and Argus Farm Stop. There's also plans to put in a new brewery on First Street.
Great for walking dogs, with sidewalks everywhere. I also feel very safe in my neighborhood and have walked to/from home late at night. It's close to some downtown restaurants but relatively far from places like Skeeps.
Pretty social area as a ton of MBAs live around Hill/Main and it is close to the Bus/stadium, which is great for game days. A 10-15 minute walk to Ross and 10-20 minute walk to downtown AA. However, not much in terms of restaurants, bars, shops, fast food etc. that is in immediate area.
It is a bit of a walk to Ross (12) but I don't mind it. There aren't a ton of restaurants close by, but the 7-11 and gas station have any little things you might need, and you can walk about 5-10 minutes to get to all of the great things on Main street/downtown.
The neighborhood is very family friendly. The famous Washtenaw Diary is right next door -- just be careful not to over-do it.
Primarily residential area that is near the stadium. I walk to other parts of Ann Arbor when I am looking to go out.
The area is pretty residential. It's close to the Big House but not close to a lot of eateries. Downtown is 1 mile away so it's close but it's not close enough for something you want to pick up quickly. More eateries are closer to Ross, half a mile away. Overall, though, the neighborhood is great, not surrounded by a lot of fraternities (only one) so the noise is minimal.
A lot of Rossers living in these area. Close to all the areas we usually hang around. Staying here for my MBA2 year.
