Nice with Caveats

The actual apartment itself is spacious and very nice. However, the water pressure in the room (on the 5th floor) is not great, especially for the kitchen sink. The washer and dryer combo are serviceable, but very small and the settings are extremely limited. For example, the lowest temperature the washer can go on is 85º F. In addition, the gym is very small. It is workable unless you plan on any type of heavy or complex lift. Then you will need a membership elsewhere. The staff also sucks. 10 min walk from Law Quad.

Love living in 618 S Main St

I've lived here for 2 years and I love the property. It's so centrally located - 10 min walk to downtown, the law school, and the Big House. And the amenities are great!

Overpriced

The building is quiet, generally well-maintained, but extremely overpriced. The new management is not as good as the previous one.

Average apartment with issues continually coming up. Building management is overall friendly but takes a while to respond to issues. Great community overall.

Great building near all your MBA friends

618 South Main is a short 12-15 minute walk to Ross. It is within a 5-7 minute walk from many other buildings and houses where MBAs live. The floor plans are spacious.

618 Living

I am in a studio+den 544 sqft (3B configuration), I have lots of closet space, great sized living room. I face South Main so not a lot of direct sunlight but a whole wall of windows! I really enjoy the gym, pool, BBW, and the thick walls- I cannot hear any neighbors! The management company has been below satisfactory for the amount we are paying, there are issues with the fire pits, security of the building from time to time, and have heard that some maintenance requests take weeks. I have had all positive interactions with the staff. Everyone that lives here is an MBA or Law for the most part which makes it a fun community.

Such a cute neighborhood! It's right by the stadium and walking distance to great parks like Wurster and Allmendinger, as well as around the corner from Elbel if you like playing sports. Just a short walk away you'll be surrounded by cute houses where families live and Jefferson Market if you're looking for a great weekend brunch spot.
I love the Old West Side because it's a quieter neighborhood with parks, trees, single family homes, and neighborhood traditions like the Old West Side Home Tour and the Westside Art Hop. If you're trying to escape from undergrads, I'd highly recommend looking into the Old West Side.

I live at the edge of Old West Side (618 South Main), which is less than a 10 minute walk to the law school (a straight shot up Madison Ave). Although Old West Side doesn't have a lot of restaurants or bars, it's only a 7 minute walk to all of the downtown restaurants and bars. Old West Side is home to some of my favorite places: Washtenaw Dairy, Jefferson Market, and Argus Farm Stop. There's also plans to put in a new brewery on First Street.
It's great, about a 15 min walk from downtown, 15 min walk from campus, and right near hill street where many other MBAs live. There's not really any grocery stores nearby so most people either drive or get instacart delivery.
A little quiet and a bit of a walk from things, but it's the perfect near-campus neighborhood that isn't crazy busy for our grad student life. There are a ton of bars/restaurants within a 10-minute walk.
Super cute neighborhood area with beautiful parks nearby - I feel super safe and love walking my dog and running around the area at any time of day. ~15-20 minute walk from Ross
Super close to downtown and the Yard, but (luckily) it feels like a whole different neighborhood. Lots of nature, families and very quiet streets. I personally love it!
~16 min walk to Ross
~10min walk to downtown
mix of families, grad students, and undergrads in the area
charming neighborhood, close to the football stadium
The Old West Side is great. Washtenaw Dairy and Wurster Park are the mainstays of this neighborhood, which is on the quieter side of neighborhoods.
