618 South Main reviews and highlights
- brand new building
- great amenities
- conveniently located close to downtown Ann Arbor
- nice gym
Conveniently Located, Room for improvement from Property Management
Great location near other popular housing and walking distance to the stadium. The property management company can definitely do better at being responsive and addressing concerns.

Popular managed apartment under new management
618 South Main is a complex with a lot of inhouse facilities and spacious floor plans for anyone looking for a studio or 1 bedroom spaces. All the appliances are fairly new. The only downside is that the new management is still finding its feet which leads to a lot of frustration with maintenance and package issues

Solid, spacious apartment with new management team
The apartments are big, new, and clean with high ceilings. New management seems to be doing a better job than the last team. Coffee machine breaks down frequently but they are purchasing a replacement that should arrive soon. This is a smaller piece but the hallways are painted/lit in a way that feels a little college dormy, but outside of that, the building aesthetic is great.

Management isn't good. Things don't work.
I would not advise anyone to live here.

Management Transition
As of September of this year, the management company changed because the old company was delinquent on bills and was not actually managing any services at the building. The new team appears to be competent, though they have a long backlog of issues that's taking some time to work through. Rooms are high quality, but the overall package of services isn't quite as nice compared to buildings with comparable rent in Chicago. The package organization system is a mess, the communal grills leave a little consistency to be desired, and the process of moving in/out is a nightmare. However, just about everything else has been in line with what I'd expect for this price--functioning utilities, excellent soundproofing between units, good common areas, and quick maintenance (post operating transition).

Ok but I could have done better.
I picked it because its a cheap 1 bed. The location is good for Ross. There's a good bit of space. Natural light is bad in my particular unit. Washer/dryer sets me back $3+ per load.
Doing this again I'd invest the extra 300-400 a month to relieve stress on furnishing, wifi, get a slightly nicer place.

618 S. Main is the place to be
I love my rental company. Convenient location to campus and downtown. Close to several bus stops, minutes away from multiple grocery stores. Quiet, pet friendly community. Lots of grad and professional students. Property also offers a military discount.

High End, Well Situated, but Pricey
pros: definitely one of the nicest buildings in Ann Arbor, essentially all MBA students so strong sense of community, good for dogs, lots of light with big windows, free donuts on Fridays, 15 minute walk (uphill though) to Ross, underground parking, really nice maintenance staff (thanks Drew!), nice lobby - free to rent for events, fire pits and pool is nice, management is nice but often slow with follow-through,
cons: in-unit storage is limited (we don't have a linen, front closet NOR pantry), parking is super expensive ($200/month), package room situation is a mess - can take days to find your package, apartments were designed to look good, not necessarily to make sense (ex: there's no cabinet in the kitchen that fits plates - had to install our own free hanging shelves - this is common among a lot of the units I talked to), gym is way too small for number of people here, expensive for Ann Arbor (ours is $2650 for 2 bed, 1 bath, 900 sq ft), lots of construction around

overall good but the management..
Nice building, nice community, and great location.
One thing less pleasant is the management recently is not as responsive nor providing great service such as leaving your packages to your door.

West of State Reviews
I live at the edge of Old West Side (618 South Main), which is less than a 10 minute walk to the law school (a straight shot up Madison Ave). Although Old West Side doesn't have a lot of restaurants or bars, it's only a 7 minute walk to all of the downtown restaurants and bars. Old West Side is home to some of my favorite places: Washtenaw Dairy, Jefferson Market, and Argus Farm Stop. There's also plans to put in a new brewery on First Street.
~10min walk to downtown
mix of families, grad students, and undergrads in the area
charming neighborhood, close to the football stadium
