Living experience

Triangle Tower Apartments is a serviceable apartment complex for students about 10-15 minutes from HEC. It is within walking distance of many of the restaurants on Euclid Avenue, which is great on busy days when you need to grab food quickly. It is also within a three-minute walking distance of the RTA, and 5 minutes from the school shuttle, meaning that students without cars will have no trouble getting to school. The area is very safe because it is located very close to the undergraduate campus, unlike some apartments off-campus where there have been carjackings. The downsides to this apartment are that the building is fairly old, has maintenance issues (bathroom ceiling leaking), and pests (mice). However, the management is fairly responsive and will take care of issues if you put in a work order.

Overall, pretty good!

The director, Kim, is great!
I think it's super convenient to have all utilities included. No pests.
The appliances are pretty dated but work fine. The color of the walls is not my favorite. It's a little inconvenient to have to use the laundry room(s) vs having in-suite washer/dryer. There is construction in the parking garage, currently.
Overall, pretty good place to live near campus.

Review

Good things about this apartment:
1. All the utilities, heat, water, etc are included, which is really nice to not have to worry about.
2. The location is actually in a really nice area, it's pretty safe and has a lot of restaurants around it.
3. The administration answers emails very fast and are very professional and cheerful people.

Bad things:
1. I feel like I am paying way more than what this apartment is worth. Next year I am probably leaving because I can pay similar prices at a place like Innova, which is way newer and more luxury, with more amenities.
2. The apartment building ALWAYS smells HORRIBLE. The lobby smells ok, but I hold my breath from the second I get into the elevator until I make it to my apartment. I'm not sure why the elevators and hallways always have this terrible smell. Also, any time my neighbor cooks, I can immediately smell that smell very strongly in my apartment, as if they are cooking in my kitchen. I'm not sure if this is a problem with bad air circulation, but it is terrible and I resort to opening my balcony door to get the strong smell of their cooking out, even though I am then wasting heat.
3. The building is either AC or heat only. There were a couple days where it actually got really cold, but the building was still in AC only, so I was pretty much freezing, and was wearing the thickest winter pajamas I have, a robe, socks, and had to sit there wrapped up in a blanket just so I could feel warm enough to study.
4. The lighting is very poor in the apartment, and even in the middle of the day with a set of balcony doors, I still feel like it's dark in there.

Safe but a little expensive

The rent is a little bit expensive compared to other options such as Little Italy. But it is safe. The utilities are fine. The maintenance responded quickly. Closed to the campus. But pets are not allowed here. Fits for people who care about safety most, do not have a car, and do not have a pet.

Pricey and Mediocre

The most appealing part of this residence is it’s proximity to campus, but with classes being on zoom, its less of a positive. An important thing to know before living here is they only have heating OR cooling depending on the time of the year. They switched to heat in early October which lead to all the apartments having no airflow and being over 80° inside (it got up to 87° in my apartment once) until December because there is no AC until they turn it back on in the Spring. I was able to open my window but if it was chilly outside it would make my apartment too cold and then when I shut the window it would heat right back up to 80°+. Having a fan for the fall through the summer is a must. There is also only lighting in the closet, bathroom, and kitchen so you will need to bring lamps for the living room and your bedroom. The apartments aren’t that nice and the bathroom and kitchens are kinda gross but it’s what you get for the price in this area. Parking is in a garage but most of it has been closed off for “construction” since September so you may have to park on the upper levels instead of the lower level that connects to the building. The gym and community room are also closed because of covid with no plans to reopen. Overall it’s kind of not great but it’s fine if you want to live close. The walk to UH is incredibly convenient so that’s nice.

Decent apartment

Being in University Circle, it is close to campus, places to grab a quick bite, the train station, and Little Italy. It is somewhat small, but the security, ease, convenience, and location make up for it. They have free laundry rooms available for use, and there was a gym and study rooms available for use before the pandemic hit. I believe they don't really allow pets unless it's a special case. It houses other graduate students, so it's nice and quiet aside from the occasional ambulance. It is definitely an old building, as they have to switch from heat to A/C and back, as well as a leaky window when it rained and a closet door that kept getting unhinged. Otherwise, these are minor compared to other places in the area at the same price. Maintenance/management was responsive when I came to them with these issues.

Great Facility

The apartment seems empty and feels foreign when you first arrive but after you move everything in it really feels like your space. When the gym was open it was great and always clean. I never had issues getting in the apartment using my case ID. Ms. Kim is a great manager!

Getting around University Circle

University Circle Reviews

97 reviews
The neighborhood mostly consists of students and professionals and is in close proximity to the Little Italy neighborhood.
Love being close to school and lots of food options nearby.
Great place to live with lots of places to eat and cultural amenities like the art museum and orchestra. Easy to get to campus/the hospitals without having to drive. Biggest con is that the only grocery store is very expensive.
The building is in between two large hospitals, Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, making it very easy for me to get to class/rotations. It is generally safe. The Case Western Reserve University police and Cleveland Clinic patrol the area almost constantly, and I have always felt secure. Additionally, I am close to museums, coffee shops, libraries, bars, and nice places to eat, study, and hang out.
It's a wonderful neighborhood - walking distance to all the museums, botanical gardens, and some of the best restaurants in Cleveland. Also walking distance to a couple coffee shops and the CWRU library and student center, so ideal for studying. The best part: < 5 min commute to school and you get to avoid Cedar coming down the hill.
Living in University Circle while in law school has made a stressful experience pleasant and less complicated. The walk to campus (which is in University Circle) is fabulous - not having to battle hospital traffic and find parking is great. There's a Constantino's Market that provides all grocery needs. University Circle has a diverse range of food options - from upscale dining at L'Albatros, to comfort food in Little Italy, to fast casual in Uptown, you could probably eat somewhere different every night for a month, all within walking distance.

University Circle is THE hub for cultural activity in Cleveland. The Cleveland Museum of Art is my favorite place in the Circle. It has fabulous permanent exhibits and brings in wonderful temporary exhibitions. The museum hosts social events that are perfect for young people more than once a month. The Circle also contains Severance Hall - home of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, the Natural History Museum, and more!

The area is fairly safe as it is heavily patrolled by UCPD and Campus Police. Ambulances frequent the area to get to the hospital, but that is the only noise complaint I've ever heard of.

I couldn't be happier about living right in University Circle during law school.
There's always places to eat or grab some groceries nearby and is close to campus. Meaning there's also lots of shuttles in walking distance to get where you need to go.
neighbors are friendly, though due to the location and the vast majority of the people living in the building are working or going to school, rarely see neighbors. The most active time with people in the building are on Friday nights through Saturday night.
