Cheaper and bigger
501 estates is a really good place. You can choose between apartments and houses. Rent prices are usually lower than the ninth street area, and you are near the forest.
If you have a pet, a first floor or a house would be the best choice. There are a lot of Duke people living here, and a group of friendly Latin-Americans looking to make this complex a Fuqua student hub. We do carpool between the student that are currently living here.
If you have a partner and/or kids, this is a really nice place to be.

Great place for a family.
I am a full-time student at Fuqua with two young children and 501 Estates has been great for us. It is not the most luxurious complex but it has a pool, dog park and they're building a new gym. I have a 3 bed/ 3.5 bath townhouse with a garage and it's very spacious.

Bang for your Buck
Century Trinity is an affordable place to live that is less than 10-minute drive from campus. The apartments are not the swankiest but are clean and moderately upgraded. The management can be a bit of a pain when you have to deal with them but my interactions with them have been minimal. It is not a walkable community and you definitely need a car or a neighbor with a car.

Awesome Pool
Beautiful swimming pool and next to the gardens. Ideal for couples. Easy parking. Low cost. Need a car.

Very good for the price
It's not bad. For a very low price, you can get a decent apartment. My initial contract was for about $1000 for a 2Be1Ba. The place is clean and management keeps the property looking nice. Requests are usually taken care of in a timely manner. Some of the features are old, like the shower bath is showing plenty of wear an tear, but for me is acceptable for the price. Pets used to $10/each, but I hear the price is going up this next year. The gym is little and there isn't much to do, I usually work out at school and my partner had to get a membership somewhere else. There isn't a lot of storage, so if you bring a lot of stuff or have a kid plan accordingly. The great thing is that the place is very quiet and can get an awesome night of sleep.

One perspective
The apartments themselves are nice enough. We moved there so we wouldn't have issues with loud neighbors, as we had heard families at Station 9 or Berkshire 9 might deal with. In retrospect, it would have been worth living at Station 9 or Berkshire 9 so as to be in closer proximity to my classmates. The noise level difference was negligible.
It is also not very secure. Several people's cars were broken into and the police officer who handled the situation said this happens every year at Century Trinity and Garret West.
Management is absolutely terrible to deal with, bordering on outright disrectfulness.

Think twice about Century Trinity
Overall the experience has not been very good. We have had some issues with AC and other things. The greatest challenges are how to deal with the administration of the complex, because people from the leasing office is often rude and not helpful.

Affordable apartments and cottages
Century Trinity has several options including 1-2 bedroom apartments, townhouses and 2-3 bedroom cottages (houses). The location is about 5 miles (5-minute drive) from Fuqua and it is very close to shopping locations:
Grocery Stores: Harris Teeter, Kroger, Wal Mart
Super Target
Best Buy
Home Depot
Bed Bath and Beyond
Buy Buy Baby
Dicks Sporting Goods
Play it again sports
Also a few restaurants
Amenities are not the best, the gym is very limited, and the business center only has 2 small tables + 2 computers.
The pool and grill area is good
Management is the weakest link.
