South Loop Reviews

The neighborhood is great. It has become so much nicer in the past few years due to all of the new building that have gone up. The Roosevelt stop can be a little sketchy from time to time but I just stay alert when I’m over there. Having a Trader Joe’s, Mariano’s, Target, Wholefoods and Jewel nearby is super nice.
Trader Joes across the street. Jewel Osco on the next block down Wabash. Red, orange and green line around the corner at Roosevelt Station. A plethora of bars, restaurants and lounges in the area as well. Easy run to Lake Michigan when warm, near Soldier Field, aquarium and Field museum.
Growing neighborhood. New buildings being put up constantly. A lot of new construction to shape the area. And lots of food & shopping options nearby.
Happy to be near CTA stops, but that’s the only concerning area (people).

The neighborhood is great because there is a CVS across the street and a Target a little ways up the street, so shopping is made easy. The access to multiple train lines and buses is definitely appealing.
There is some crime, but as long as your vigilant South Loop is as fine of a place to live as any
I love south loop. It's conveniently close to both school and night life.
I love South Loop. It's close enough to Hyde Park that you don't feel like you have a terrible commute to get to the law school, and it's in the city enough that you feel like you're in Chicago.
The streets are nice and wide. It's busy, but not too busy. There are grocery stores and a couple of decent food options - it's a perfect compromise for a law student that still wants to be in Chicago proper.

Printer's Row is near the Loop and train stations and is therefore easily accessible. It's also near Grant Park and the Lake which is great during the summer. There are some decent restaurants and a few bars, but if you're young you'll probably be heading up to River North and further north for a night out. Overall, the neighborhood feels very friendly but has a great location, and new construction in the South Loop will surely make Printer's Row even better.
