Downtown Houston

The Heart Of The City
Downtown Houston is the heart of the city - you can find the newly constructed Central Business District, pro sports teams like the Astros and Rockets, as well as the renowned Houston Theater District all in this area. Renters here enjoy being close to the Market Square Park area where there are popular bars like La Carafe and the OKRA Charity Saloon. The area is still developing so new businesses/restaurants are constantly popping up but there's one thing that remains constant- there's always something to do here.

Renters like it for remaining true to its Texas roots as it still has a rural feel and is very friendly. Walking here is encouraged and easy since the area is safe and clean.

Downtown Houston — 7/10 Rating (based on 6 neighborhood reviews)
Being downtown has its ups and downs. Can feel a bit unsafe at night. However, it is fun to be right in the middle of the action. Also very close to all of the other trendy neighborhoods in Houston.

Not a place you want to hang out in at night. Very close to a lot of stuff, but at the same time if you want anything other than some basics at kroger you’re gonna drive at least 5-10 minutes.

Living downtown is weird. After working hours only homeless people are out, but I believe this is shifting some as more high rises are being built. But despite the ghost town effect of downtown I’ve never felt unsafe and I walk my dog every night around 9-10 ish.

It is not the safest area but the apartment is secluded from the outside area, so I feel fairly safe but I take precautions to make sure that I'm ok.
