Rosslyn

Rosslyn is a newly renovated business and residential hub with easy accessibility and few popular restaurants, cafes and nightclubs. History, art and music fanatics never feel out of place with The Iwo Jima Memorial, the Artisphere houses and the Rosslyn Jazz festival in the area which hold several events to keep the neighborhood lively and cheerful.

Rosslyn — 7.6/10 Rating (based on 25 neighborhood reviews)
Rosslyn is so close to DC, while still having a quieter vibe and cheaper rent than the district proper. There are plenty of restaurants & grocery stores. Only thing that's missing in the area is a proper neighborhood bar. Sometimes, the bar options can feel a little too similar to suburban chains. The neighborhood has a very active community as well, especially in the summer. There are outdoor movies, jazz festivals, arts & crafts festivals, etc.

Rosslyn Heights
The area is very safe and close to many stores and restaurants but the community is defined by white privilege. There is not much character to the area and it is difficult to find interesting people around. I absolutely LOVE that I'm within walking distance of a Trader Joe's. I wish there was more interesting cuisine and nightlife though. Nightlife in the area is an extension of immature fratty college life.

Rosslyn is probably the safest place I've ever lived. As a women, I feel incredibly safe walking from the Metro to the apartment or going to the grocery store even after dark. I haven't experience any crime yet, and I don't really expect to.

Neighborhood is safe and well lit. There's not much to do there, but it's so close to Clarendon (a short walk) and DC (short cab or metro ride) that it's not a problem at all.

GU student notes: There are two shuttles that run through this area, one that runs 1x a hour around Arlington during rush hours, and one that runs every 10min during rush hour and 20 during off hours. There is no easy access to campus on the weekends so be prepared to UBER.

If you have long legs, renting a bike is an option. If you are like me and 5'1'', renting a bike is an option for downhill rides. There is a lot within walking distance in Rosslyn (think 20 min average from my apt): Barnes and Noble, shopping, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's (also on the Arlington loop shuttle from GU), public libraries, CVS, Target, Safeway, lots of restaurants. Also close to dense populations of immigrant communities if you like Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean food.

Cute neighborhood bars and restaurants (Ragtime, Bayou, Brooklyn Bagel) and a great market on Saturday mornings. Convenient to both Rosslyn and Courthouse (15 minute walk to Whole Foods or Trader Joes and Clarendon bars and restaurants). Only downside is that its a little further out from school and there are not a ton of Georgetown students living in this area.

Quieter than DC, but really close to Georgetown neighborhood. There are good restaurants and parks, attractions, grocery stores. And is well served by the metro. And is a lot cheaper than DC.

Pros: Close to Metro station with three metro lines, new Target nearby, close to several jogging and biking trails and parks, walkable to Georgetown restaurants

Cons: Neighborhood shuts down after 5pm. Few restaurants in the neighborhood itself (this is getting better though). Concrete canyon effect because of the skyscrapers. Closest grocery store is an expensive Safeway.

The area around Arlington Court House is super clean and safe - the police department is right next to the metro station. It's only a short walk from all the shopping and dining in Clarendon, or the Target and Safeway in Rosslyn. There's plenty of public transportation route options for commuting into D.C., or deeper into Arlington, too.

I usually feel safe walking around by myself, even at night. The police station is right there, so staying on the main streets is a good option. It does get noisy on the weekends though with lots of young people heading to the bars.

Live near courthouse and rosslyn. Decent number of bars and restaurants, Clarendon is less than a mile walk. Only two metro stops to be in DC proper.

I work out near Tyson's so courthouse is ideal for being reasonably close to work but also really close to DC. Most people in my building use metro but I personally like to drive

Points for safety, but that's it. Basically nothing to do here. There's some good options a 10-15 minute walk away, but the immediate area has nothing beyond a chipotle, Starbucks, pizza joint, and cvs that closes early in my opinion (10p weekdays, 8p Sunday).
