Great place, just a bit away from downtown, but close to bus stops and just a short bus ride away from fuqua

Old apartments, terrible management

The apartments are super old and there are a lot of problems with electricity, maintenance, fire alarm, etc. The management is terrible, super rude and they dont help you with anything. When you need them for something, is almost as they are doing you a huge favor by doing their job. You are basically on your own. The apartments have a lot of problems with maintenance, electricity, fire alarm and the maintenance takes too long to help you. My microwave often doesn't work, we can't use the stove for a long time, we can't use air fryer and the microwave at the same time, every time we cook with our door close, the fire alarm goes off. It is terrible. And the location is the apartments, despite being near the campus, is far from everything. So, if you dont have a car, you can't do much besides go to class. And if you have a car, I would recommend live anywhere else and go by car to the school. The gym is aso terrible. Few and old machines and small. Also, you can hear everything. If your neighbor flushes, you hear.

Not recommendable except for the location

It's not a safe place and the administration does not provide help when required. The only benefit is the location near the law school.

Terrible - Belmont

I really don't recommend Belmont. The facilities are ok but for what I pay in rent I could definitely do better

Older apartment complex but in good conditions.

So far Belmont offers competent staff and a good pool area as well as lake views. While the energy bill for Belmont apartments is high and the actual apartment old, it is a convenient place to live in walking distance.

Decent place to live in

The property in itself is pretty decent for the price. It is much safer now. But there is a problem with roaches right from the beginning.

It's been perfectly fine. People are nice but it's not much of a community, just a place where people live. Behind the Belmont which had a spate of robberies a few months back, but the Flats is further away from the main road and is better lit. So far no security incidents or concerns at the Flats. Affordability depends on which apartment complex you choose in the Erwin-LaSalle area. Wide range in rents, ranging from very expensive to very affordable depending on which one you pick.

The broader neighborhood's chief attribute is convenience to Duke. A lot of students live in the apartment complexes around here. It can be inconvenient sometimes getting to a supermarket from the neighborhood, though (eventually they're going to re-open a Harris Teeter on Hillsborough, which should mitigate this issue somewhat).

The neighborhood was perfectly fine when I started living there, but recently there have been some armed robberies in apartment buildings that are about a 10 minute walk away. However, I would like to say that I have not felt unsafe walking home at night and the security at Trinity is quite high. For example, you have to use a special key to get into the lobby (where a security guard sits after dark) and then you have to use the key to get in from the lobby to where the rooms are, and then again to get into your room. There are about 10 good restaurants within walking distance ranging from greek food to Mexican food to sushi so it's great for a quick dinner when you don't want to cook. There is also a hair salon and a manicure place, as well as a Walgreens pharmacy. We are very close to Duke Hospital and the bus systems are very accessible.

The apartments are close to campus and easily accessible through bus, bike, or walking if desired. There is a nearby Kroger that is a less than 5 min drive away just up LaSalle St. Overall, there are some older apartments further up the road that have had issues with crime in the past, but The Heights and other apartments around the area seemed to be insulated from those issues.

The food in the area is really accessible and I feel quite safe in the surrounding area, excluding the gas stations and bus stop. I've heard some odd things at night but never seen anything fishy and feel safe coming home at night. +Tons of dogs!

Lofts is right next to a few restaurants - TGIFridays, Chipotle, Enzo's, Noodles, Smash Burger, Sushi Love, etc. The Kroger grocery store is just a few minutes away, off of Lasalle. This is a quiet neighborhood.

Quiet neighbourhood. Conveniently located to West Campus and walking distance to Fuqua. Easy and healthy fast food options nearby. Close to food stores e.g. Kroger & Harris Teeter. Close to WaDuke trail.

Not the safest neighborhood and has little transit. There have been issues at other apartment complexes with safety, but Heights has been very safe. It is absolutely fine to walk around in the day here, but not at night. There are not very many restaurants or bars nearby, although downtown Durham is 10 minutes away.
