Canal Square

The apartments are nice and many medical students live here! It has been nice to have a good community of peers in the same building.

Overall Pretty Good

Canal Square doesn't really "wow" me at all - but it's a really solid choice. Great location/distance from the med school (5-7 minute drive, no highways/traffic), it's very secure, good management, no pest issues, allows pets, right on the Canal, and the best thing in my opinion is the fact that the parking is covered garage parking. There's pretty good amenities: gym, outdoor pool, business center where you can print, etc. But there's no food or activities right around it, the building itself isn't that nice, and while I like my apartment I know there have been issues with other apartments in the building.

Canal Square Review

Location is good, near downtown but not too close so as to be very loud. However, the rent and parking are expensive. Amenities and management are ok. Management is sometimes good, sometimes not good. I usually feel safe, but sometimes the door locks don't work well and I wonder why they don't update them. Overall, it's decent, but I'm glad I live here. Some units are most cost-effective than others.

Canal Square

In general, I’ve had few problems living at Canal Square. The Leasing Office staff are pleasant and easy to work with. Amber remembers everyone’s name and things about each person. The apartment is very pet-friendly, which is great because I own a cat. As the COVID pandemic has gone on, they have increased cleaning around common spaces in the apartment. However, they have also become slower and slower in regards to responding to maintenance/service requests. I feel like I mostly pay for location, as rent is relatively high without parking or any utilities included. It’s within walking distance to IUPUI’s campus. I feel safe within the apartment but wish they would fix the broken lock on the entrance down to the Canal.

Canal Walk Reviews

Being able to walk and exercise on the canal is really nice, especially during breaks from school. It is really quiet and hard to believe you are downtown. Depending on which side of the apartment you live on, you could have great views and natural light.
This neighborhood is great because you have so many walking options and are in the best part of downtown. I never have to drive anywhere because I can even walk to the grocery store. It can be a little dangerous at night but if you're aware of your surroundings you will be fine.
Not much of a neighborhood. Typically, I walk to campus and the grocery store. The canal is great during the summer.
Great neighborhood! Located directly on the canal and within walking distance of campus, lucas oil, multiple parks, etc.
There's basically nothing around besides the Canal, so it's a really quiet area that I feel safe in.
During the day, the canal is very pretty and there are lots of things around the canal to do. At night...just don't. The crime is very bad and I will not go outside past dark.

It’s a great location - close to the school, the canal, and downtown.
