Walking Distance to Sanford

This apartment is a 12min walk to Sanford which is so convenient. It is a decent size apartment with all the necessary amenities.

Many Problems

I would not recommend staying at Chapel Tower. Although it is within walking distance of campus, I have had many, many problems here. The most glaring problem was finding out that my A/C unit was full of mold. It took close to a month to fully solve the problem because management stated that they would bring people in to solve the problem and did not do so until I followed up multiple times over both phone and email. The hallways are gross, the walls are very thin, and the police are called to the complex multiple times a week.

Would not recommend

Chapel Towers is very close to school, but it very poorly run and maintained. I've had to call maintenance several times for serious issues, like having mold in my tub, and they took A WEEK to deal with the issue. Management in general is not super responsive.

Good value for money, nothing special

I know I am paying way less for a two bedroom than I would on 9th street, which I appreciate it. Sometimes I have FOMO from not being on 9th street, but sometimes I appreciate the space. My apartment is nice enough but nothing fancy. I feel like I am generally getting what I pay for. The management is incredibly slow but will generally eventually respond. I appreciate living among the neighbors who are there- mostly families and younger couples. I love being close enough to Fuqua to walk or bike in 5 minutes. I like being near the duck pond for runs. 9th street is about a 15 minute bike ride away. The gym is simple but generally clean. I occasionally find roaches, but unfortunately that seems to be the norm in NC!

Chapel Tower - Hidden Jewer

Pros:
- Close to campus; 10-15min walk to Fuqua
- Quiet community
- Ample parking spots are available
- Cheap ($900 rent per month; 10% Duke student discount)
- Management Office is relatively good
- Good basic gym facilities

Cons:
- Not too close to your classmates (majority at 9th Street)
- No nearby grocery stores
- Sometimes (once a month), have to deal with pests. However Management responded positively by engaging with pest controller to clean the house

A great deal & as close to campus as you can get

-Highly convenient to campus: door-to-door, the walk from my apartment to the Fuqua building is 10 minutes
-Very reasonably priced for the amount of space I get (2 bedrooms, 950 sqft)
-Not a luxury apartment, but I could tell when I moved in that the carpets were new, the oven/stovetop was nearly new, and the other appliances were in good shape.
-Thick walls; I rarely hear my neighbors
-Has a small gym onsite with the basics
-Very few Duke students live here so it's not a strong social scene
-Apartment management does not always provide great customer service, but I've had only good experiences with maintenance staff (responsive and helpful)
-Good for someone who would choose a quiet place to live over proximity to bars/nightlife (though I can walk to a handful of restaurants on Erwin Rd)

Can be a little sketchy sometimes but I sacrifice that for being close to the hospital. Usually try to avoid walking alone at night but have done it plenty of times after staying late in the hospital or having to get there at 4 AM and have never had any issues. A nice selection of food/drink options just down the street!
Very convenient to the hospital and campus (walking distance) and some chain restaurants with a few local spots, but overall not a very interesting neighborhood. Very bike-able to 9th st area, less so to downtown but still only about a 20-min bike ride
Very close to campus, extremely convenient to the hospital. Many students live in the complexes nearby. Some food options, but no real "neighborhood." The main attraction is that it's as close to living on campus as you can get off campus.
Great that the neighborhood is so close to the hospital which is great for me as a student. The apartment complex is close to a bus stop / a pretty loud street which sometimes has some noise but overall no major issues.
Mostly apartments. Conveniently located to Duke and hospitals, plenty of amenities on Hillsborough Road, though if you want good food you may need to drive a bit.
Not the safest place, but the apartment complex has a garage so you don't need to walk outside at night. So close to the medical school/convenient.
safe neighborhood. We haven't had much crime and Trinity Properties has an annual safety meeting to give helpful tips on safety for the area.
Close to campus, but few grocery store and dining options in the immediate area. Biggest perk is proximity and that's really it.
