Management is difficult to work with. The apartment is mediocre for the price, with the only main benefit for the price being the location. Any property on the first floor is also prone to bugs and extreme weather impacts (temperatures, A/C and heat, pipes). It is also hard to control the temperature in the rooms. The structural equipment (closets and doors) is cheap and of low quality,

pros
- walking distance to campus (you will need to be on campus more than you think m1 year and definitely m3 year - commuting is doable if you have a car but if not, better to live close by)
- studios are more spacious compared to other apt complexes nearby
- less than 10 min walk to jewel (grocery store), right on taylor st so near a handful of food/coffee spots nearby, less than 10 min walk to pink line (train)
- management is super responsive, maintenance requests get handled quickly
- feels safe, 24hr doorman
- rent only increased by $20 after three years of living here
cons
- expensive for an old building (but still cheaper than other apt complexes in the area)
- biggest downside is no in unit laundry, shared laundry room is on the first floor and costs $2.25 for washer, $2 for dryer
- they convert the whole building to heating or cooling when the season changes, so for a few days late fall it might be hot in your unit with no option to turn on the ac

Review
The best part about the Scio is the convenient location to school. I am able to walk to the Academic Armour Center in 8 minutes and the pink line in 8 minutes as well. There is 24 hour concierge services and they are pet friendly!

Wonderful atmosphere at SCIO.
I have enjoyed the experience living at SCIO and find that my apartment provides more than enough space to have many family and friends over.

Living at SCIO
Experience was good. I enjoyed the amenities and my apartment was all that I needed it to be. The things that ultimately made me move from SCIO is that the apartment did not have an in-unit washer and dryer. I did not like the community machines. I also did not like how I was not able to control my A/C and heat.
