Great value

Nice space without high end frills, amenities include a small gym and pool for residents. The unit has everything we need, including in-unit laundry, parking for our 2 cars, and excellent sound insulation. Location can't be beat as it's next to Central Market, the 803 bus, and a park for our dog to walk in.

Great community near the campus

The maintenance services, safety here are good. Central Market next by. Several bus routes. Only drawback is that there are not many restaurants here

Walkable neighborhood and easy to get to campus

This is a good alternative to downtown if you're looking for a walkable neighborhood but want to pay less than $1k/roommate.

Floorplans:
Floorplans are nice and spacious. However, there are no luxury options so your apartment will not have granite countertops or wood floors. Most units are carpet.

Amenities:
The biggest downsides are the amenities. The gym is very small and there isn't a good place to study in the complex. The office staff however is friendly/competent. There is a pool with nice grills for cooking out. Behind the apartment there is a park with a half mile gravel path to run on.

Management:
As this is a Gables property it is professionally run by responsive and concerned people. My only complaint is that they will try to increase your rent every year by 10% and you will have to try to talk them out of it by threatening to move.

Neighbors:
This apartment attracts the quieter undergrad/grad student types as well as some families. I've never heard a party in this complex. There is a playground outside of the Central Market right next to the park so this would probably a good option for students with children as well.

Additionally, recently pest control has been coming by once a week to set traps in the attic crawlspace. After talking with other residents it sounds like my building is the only one they're having issues with and they are taking care of it. I have not seen any sign of rodents in my apartment as they are only in the attic space.

Getting around Triangle State

Triangle State Reviews

35 reviews
I love the peaceful and community feel of the Triangle neighborhood. We frequently have student meet-ups for study sessions, happy hours and yoga classes in our neighborhood park. Everything I need is in walking distance and I can even walk the ~3 miles to class when I am feeling ambitious.
Not as hip as dowtown and may be lacking in nightlife, but I wasn't looking for that. Love the proximity to campus, but not innondated with undergrads.
relatively safe neighbourhood. not too many homeless people around. there is a grocery store nearby
I love being close to restaurants, the Triangle park, Hyde Park, and access to 290 .
The Triangle offers lots of chain restaurants for easy, quick options for food. You can easily walk to these places. However, the surrounding area is full of unique Austin treasures. There are plenty of coffee shops, bakeries, and restaurants that you'll want to check out as well. Within a few miles, you also have Central Market and an HEB. I love the overall neighborhood vibe.
Location:
Good but not great. This neighborhood might technically classified as Hyde Park but it is just on the outskirts. The neighborhood is walkable and access to the metrorapid bus is great. It's still not downtown and you will have to spend more money on uber or time waiting for the bus to go to Sixth Street/Rainey Street/East Sixth to go out.

Transportation:
You can take either the metrorapid bus or the city bus to campus with about a 7-10 minute ride. The bus will also take you downtown fairly quickly. Occasionally I will commute to school with my bike and leave 15 minutes before class and get there on time. (disclaimer: not something you want to do in the hotter months)

Food:
Central Market is a ten minute walk through the park behind the apartment complex. There is also a Natural Grocers that is good for picking up small items like produce that is located at 38th and Guadalupe. Further down the road there is a Randall's grocery store. There are several smaller restaurants/bars within walking distance from the apartment. There is a Starbucks across the street as well as a coffee shop on Guadualupe called La Tazza Fresca that is a good place to study.
Great location with everything - grocery store, bank, fitness, restaurants. Two bus stops within 5 minutes walk
Its convenient and safe, but is not particularly exciting from a cultural or culinary standpoint.
