Triangle State

A Convenient and Walkable Suburb
Triangle State is a great neighborhood, home to many students, young couples, and professionals alike, that boasts shopping centers, fine restaurants, parks, and cafes scattered throughout the town. The Triangle State neighborhood is named for the triangle formed by West 45th St. at the bottom and North Lamar Blvd. and Guadalupe Street as the peak. This neighborhood is quite new - historically it contained empty lots until developers recently transformed it into the residential community and numerous attractions that make it up today.

Downtown Austin, the area of South Congress, and the University of Texas are all easily accessible for locals due to the convenience of public transportation options within the neighborhood. There’s also the lovely sports complex, Charles Alan Wright Fields, for anyone looking to stay active or maybe play soccer with friends. Another park to visit is Hyde Park, and there are open greenspaces with fountains and farmer markets. There is also a convenient grocery store in the center of town called Central Market, which offers a great selection of organic products. Restaurants in the area include Uchiko, Kerbey Lane Cafe, and Pinthouse Pizza. Triangle State attracts younger professionals and couples who work in the area or downtown, and many of the apartment complexes are home to University of Texas students. It’s a perfect place to live with many fun things to do.

Triangle State — 8.2/10 Rating (based on 35 neighborhood reviews)
The Triangle is a great location. There are a lot of great restaurants close by, such as Taco Deli, Mandola's, Maudie's, and Snap Kitchen, as well as great workout studios in walking distance, such as Solid Core, Orange Theory, and Core Power. I never feel unsafe walking around the neighborhood. It is an easy under 10 minute drive to campus. There is also a bus stop right outside the Triangle on Guadalupe.

The Triangle is in between Hyde Park and Rosedale, which are more family-friendly, residential neighborhoods. Central Market and HEB are both close by, and it's equally easy to get on Mopac and I-35. There are people around the shops and restaurants at most times of the day, so it always feels safe. Great area for pets.

I love the peaceful and community feel of the Triangle neighborhood. We frequently have student meet-ups for study sessions, happy hours and yoga classes in our neighborhood park. Everything I need is in walking distance and I can even walk the ~3 miles to class when I am feeling ambitious.

The triangle is a nice community with access to a grocery store, a coffee shop, and several other food options. Most importantly, it feels safe and is a short 10-15 minute bus ride from campus.

It’s a great neighborhood. Family and pet friendly. Pretty quiet. Not many bars close by though (if that’s important). Uber to downtown is about $10.

The Triangle offers lots of chain restaurants for easy, quick options for food. You can easily walk to these places. However, the surrounding area is full of unique Austin treasures. There are plenty of coffee shops, bakeries, and restaurants that you'll want to check out as well. Within a few miles, you also have Central Market and an HEB. I love the overall neighborhood vibe.

Location:
Good but not great. This neighborhood might technically classified as Hyde Park but it is just on the outskirts. The neighborhood is walkable and access to the metrorapid bus is great. It's still not downtown and you will have to spend more money on uber or time waiting for the bus to go to Sixth Street/Rainey Street/East Sixth to go out.

Transportation:
You can take either the metrorapid bus or the city bus to campus with about a 7-10 minute ride. The bus will also take you downtown fairly quickly. Occasionally I will commute to school with my bike and leave 15 minutes before class and get there on time. (disclaimer: not something you want to do in the hotter months)

Food:
Central Market is a ten minute walk through the park behind the apartment complex. There is also a Natural Grocers that is good for picking up small items like produce that is located at 38th and Guadalupe. Further down the road there is a Randall's grocery store. There are several smaller restaurants/bars within walking distance from the apartment. There is a Starbucks across the street as well as a coffee shop on Guadualupe called La Tazza Fresca that is a good place to study.

The triangle area is really nice! A lot of MBA students live up this way so it’s nice to have a group of friends nearby. Not a lot of bars or restaurants in the area but there are a few. There’s a big green space that’s great for dogs to run around if you have a pet. It’s quiet, pretty safe, but still close to things.
