Good Choice for Philly!

Love my view, I face to the beautiful skyline of the east! Garage parking is nice, paid visitor parking available on-site and adjacent to the building. There's a 24 hour doorman and I feel safe in my apt. Very friendly and helpful staff. A shuttle to campus on rainy or cold mornings is a plus! And oh my goodness, the closet space is amazing!

Only negatives to my apt include noisy construction across the street (not under the control of my apt building), A/C / heaters that only have on and off functions (no thermostat), and the window shades barely keep any light out (have to purchase very long curtain rods to be installed by the staff). Also, you can only use command hooks (can't make holes in the wall) and you cannot decorate your front door or place a welcome mat outside per the contract.

Overall, I am very pleased with this unit!

2400 Chestnut

Great apartment to live in for the location! Management is very responsive to any issues that come up. Only downside is there is a lot of construction noise in the area, so if you're trying to sleep during the day it can be challenging.

Good Value

Newly renovated, spacious, and generally quiet. Amazing city view. The gym is kinda old.

Shuttle to campus is a lifesaver

Perfect location for Penn grad students — 20 minutes walk to campus, minutes away for Rittenhouse bars and restaurants, 6 min walk to grocery store. Shuttle to campus is a game changer, especially in winter time.

Not too far from school

2400 is conveniently located, walkable to school and walkable to Rittenhouse square. The building is old, but more recently renovated units are good.

Not worth the price

There is constant smoking going on inside the building. My bathroom fills up with smoke regularly. I am not responsible for the smoke, but the management has sent me accusatory emails. It is not in a great location because it is in a flood zone. I have heard other residents say that they have seen people shooting up drugs outside the building. It is hard for uber/delivery drivers to locate the apartment for some reason. They regularly leave my food on the street. I would not live here in retrospect.

Overall One of the Best Options

My experience here has been good so far. For the price, space, and the fact that the units are renovated, I feel like you really can't do much better in Philly. My only complaints are that there's no in-unit laundry (although there are two of each W/D per floor) and apartments have window a/c and heat rather than central air (I haven't had any issues with temperature control thus far). You can find other places with in-unit W/D and central air, but you have to compromise on space, price, etc. There is also a shuttle to campus here which is very convenient. Otherwise it's about a 15 minute walk to the law school, which is also very manageable. As a side-note I just want to add that the construction outside can be kind of annoying. I checked reviews extensively when I was searching for apartments, and there weren't really any noise complaints for this building. However, now they're supposedly building a high rise next to us, and construction started right around the time I moved in. I just had bad luck with the timing. Hopefully by the time students move in next year, the construction will be mostly over with.

The location is unbeatable with close proximity to more action in Rittenhouse, the Schuylkill for running, and a short commute to school/the hospital. Trader Joe's is ~10 minute walk from my house, but there are also a few other smaller grocery stores nearby. It's a very family friendly area with folks of all different ages and tons of dogs.
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
This spot is perfect -- closer to campus, near the train station, huge spaces, kind and helpful staff, cool-looking building, new gym, beautiful park nearby, and overall easy and awesome loft-style living experience. I think people will pressure to have to live on Rittenhouse because that's what everyone immediately says to do, but in reality you can live near Rittenhouse (Locust on the Park is just a 5 minute walk to the square) and not miss out on anything. Fitler Square is beautiful, quiet, and still a perfect location.
Pros: close to school as well as all the fun stuff downtown (Schuylkill River Trail, restaurants, bars, museums, theaters, shopping, you name it!); very safe even walking alone late at night; lots of other students here
Cons: Trader Joe's is the only real grocery store here and may have limited selection for those looking for a supermarket; not as quiet or "neighborhood-y" as other areas, as it is in the heart of downtown; there is a freight train that runs along the river that can be loud, though I got used to it quickly
