Safe, Conveniently Located and Friendly Staff.

There's nothing beyond or goes lower than I expected before arriving. The doorman and maintenance guys are very friendly; they are also available 24/7. Claridge is very conveniently located and is in the center of everything (restaurants, pubs, shopping, etc.). As most of us do online shopping, I would highly recommend that you look for a place that has package room or doorman like Claridge. My friend who lived in a building without doorman got her packages stolen. The only downside is the rent is a bit high as compared to the size of the room. I can definitely get bigger rooms from other buildings with the price I pay.

Best location in Philadelphia.

The roof deck has the greatest skyline view and the management is sufficient. Prices are adequate and they are flexible on lease terms.

Good value for money if you want a doorman building on the park

The Claridge is good value for being on Rittenhouse Square. Perks include all utilities included in rent, friendly (if unresponsive) building staff, pet-friendly, large Wharton community, and excellent bus access on 18th when it starts getting crowded. Negatives include price relative to brownstones, pretty far from school, so-so apartment and furnishing quality, more sizzle than steak at times (mediocre gymrooftop spacelaundry facilities). Supposedly a substantial renovation of common spaces, including the gym, is on tap for 2014.

Great location

Management company is very slow to respond during the initial leasing process. However, once the lease is signed you never have to deal with them again. On the other hand, maintenance is very responsive at all hours of the day. Newly renovated units are very nice and great value.

High floor 2BR in The Rittenhouse Claridge - Amazing location, Noise level OK, Great Value, lots of Wharton students, basic amenities only. No regret.

RESIDENCE: not the newest or with best amenities but clean and decent. Staff very nice and usually helpful (tip from time to time). Best location in town (18 and Walnut) just by Rittenhouse square. Parents: the goat sculpture in the square is THE meeting point for all moms about 2min away from the front door. All amenities right there, bus 21 direct to campus 1min away. Also a great walk back from campus when the weather is nice. RENTAL OFFICE: frustratingly slow and irresponsive when you try to get information ahead of your rental, but once you're in they are nice. UNIT Large 2BR, 23rd floor, Claridge. Fantastic West-facing view on Rittenhouse sq. with stunning sunsets. Full of light, noise level OK (park noise sometimes at night, especially when they have outdoor concerts but they stop at midnight). Be careful, lower levels can be quite noisy. Good apartment size, newly refurbished kitchen, plenty of closet space. Insulation could be better and the central air is annoying- for our infant, no way to have a decent temperature (too hot or too cold) in the room. OVERALL Not the cheapest option because you pay for the location, but best value in my opinion, considering. Very good experience. Was able to sublet over the summer.

Happy with the Claridge

Perfect location, solid apartments, and solid staff. Gym leaves something to be desired. But overall the Claridge is very good value.

A great building at a fantastic price.

The best thing about the Claridge is the location - right on the park, a straight walk to school and near the bus. The pricing is fantastic and includes utilities. The one downside is that the management can be a less than responsive when you need them to be.

Affordable studio on rittenhouse square with "utilities, gym and business center" included in rent

They're under new management since I moved and they've made a lot of improvements (better gym business center social events roof). I think its extremely convenient (right on rittenhouse square), the doormen are friendly, and overall maintenance repairs happen seamlessly. I think it’s a bit small for what you can get for the money I'm paying in philly, but overall fine. I really wanted a building with a free gym that I felt was in a safe neighborhood area (living alone as a girl and walking home late).

Rittenhouse Square Reviews

Walnut street is very safe - there's always people around and it's well lit. The neighborhood includes all of the fun aspects of living in Philadelphia - tons of access to food and bars, nearby grocery stores/markets, access to the parks and the Schuylkill River Trail
Very close to fun restaurants/bars/shops. Close to the subway as well as the train station (suburban station).
Rittenhouse is the safest part of Philly. It's a very "happening" part of town—lots of restaurants and bars on every street. At the same time, it's right next to more residential neighborhoods to walk around in and explore. It's a great place to live relatively close to the law school but with a degree of separation so as not to get trapped in the law school bubble.
The neighborhood is both quiet and lively. There is so much around, but I have never had an issue sleeping or studying because there is too much noise. The broad street line is a 10-15 minute walk away and we are close to shopping, food, the park, and the river trail. Has everything within a 10-15 walk.
This neighborhood has everything I need within walking distance. Shops, grocery stores, parks, the subway and trolley, post office. You name it. It's very safe and extremely quiet, which helps when I'm trying to study. The Rittenhouse Square area is really the best place to live in Philly if you don't mind paying a little more.
I love this neighborhood and knew I wanted to live here when beginning my apartment search. The park is one of my favorite places in the city, and I love being able to easily access all the restaurants and shopping nearby. It's also an easy (~20 minute) walk to Penn Law, and the walking commute has always been a nice and peaceful part of my day.

Spruce Street in particular is great - it's a little south of the square, so is quieter/shielded from a lot of the traffic that the neighborhood gets, but it's not out of the way or far away. There's a Starbucks, a grocery store (Rittenhouse Market), and a few corner stores (Four Seasons and Food & Friends) within a 2-3 minute walk of my apartment.
Love the neighborhood, Rittenhouse Square is beautiful and we are so close to the more commercial areas like Walnut Street while not being in the center of the craziness. Plus we are within walking distance of public transportation including 10 minutes from the 15/16 street PATCO station. I personally think it is one of the best areas of Philly to live in.
Rittenhouse Square has a park in the center surrounded by a bookstores, restaurants, and a public library. It is open to pets and often has open art / food markets on the weekends. It is close to the Broad Street Line and PATCO. There are many families who live in the area. It is affordable compared to other major cities (NYC, DC, Boston), but there are certainly more affordable areas in Philadelphia, simply without the luxury of being so close to Center City.
