Great location, OK organization

The location is very convenient: right next to two bus stops for the 32, and a 10 minute walk from Triphammer Marketplace for the 30 to Cornell campus, as well as being 5 minutes away from the Ithaca airport. The apartment facilities are complete and functional, even if slightly old. The management can be somewhat disorganized with paperwork though (they lost my renter's insurance and other files multiple times).

Review

It's a solid place to live, with mostly graduate/professional students and other adults and families. It's pretty quiet.

Gaslight Village

Is great if you have a car. Rent concessions make the Lansing apartments feasible. If I had a roommate this would easily only cost me 600 a month and it is more than spacious enough for two people.

Gaslight is Great

We've lived in the same apartment at Gaslight Village for our entire time in Ithaca (two years total). The only reason it gets a nine and not a ten is that the buildings are a little older and so it's not the most luxurious place in town. But it is well-maintained, clean, and quiet. It's a 12 minute bus ride to the law school, and the 32 bus stops right outside the complex. This is a bus that only runs once per hour (twice at busy times), though, so it can be worth the walk to the 30 route for more flexibility.

The complex is a lot of families and grad students. There's always plenty of parking right by any building. There's a pool and a playground toward the middle of the complex. The pool is small but kept up very nicely. Residents get discounts at various businesses in town (Monro Muffler Brake and K-House to name two). Our maintenance requests have always been responded to promptly and efficiently. We have an in-unit washer/dryer that I pay an extra $70 for per month, but you can get a unit without that. Each building has a laundry room. Also, the apartment is huge, especially the living space, which has been great for what we're paying.

The complex only allows cats, not dogs, but they have other properties nearby that are dog friendly, such as North Woods, which are also nice (I have friends who rent there). I would definitely recommend it for anyone not looking to deal with the Collegetown scene. It seems more out of the way than it actually is, I promise!

Great but Far

Love the apartment and management. Only downside is apartments are not walking distance to campus or bars in Collegetown.

Gaslight Village is Great

Gaslight Village is nice and quiet. The apartment managers are very helpful and attentive. The bus stops right outside the apartment complex and runs through the middle of campus and to downtown, but only comes once an hour. There is another bus nearby that runs more frequently, but it's not necessarily walkable with books and everything.

The apartments are a little old but very well taken care of, and they are huge for the price! If you have any issues, maintenance comes pretty quickly. It is also pet friendly.
