Great Location and Excellent Price

Riverwest has a great location, it is super convenient to get to school, and most of the people who live in the building are Penn or other grad students. The building is a little older, and the units are individually owned so the quality of each apartment varies. The gym is small, but it has enough for the casual gym-goer. 24-hour doorman.

Convenient, safe and well-priced

The building is located in a very safe and convenient area. Lots of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and grocery stores nearby. Tenants are mostly students. Only major cons are the noise during the weekends (especially with respect to apartments facing the street) and the heating system is also very loud.

It is a good value for money.

All utilities except internet included. Good location for walking to campus. Be aware though, there are mice in the building. Building manager is pretty useless. Elevators frequently broken. None of these were dealbreakers for me though, and it's a fine place to live, but not luxurious.

Studio in Riverwest: Great Value for Location and Amenities

Overall: - Great value for location and basic amenities. - Amenities include 24x7 doorman, gym, and laundry - basically the only things you really need. - Location - 3 blocks away from 2401, 1 block away from Trader Joe's. A few things to note about Riverwest: - Condos are owned by individuals, so units are in varying conditions and some owners are very responsive while others aren't.

Best location, but with maintenance issues

I love the location, it is perfect for everything: close enough to walk to 2401 Walnut Street, Campus, stores, Rittenhouse etc. All public transport is nearby, including 30th street station. There are cafes, restaurants all around. The apartment is spacious and well designed. There is laundry and a gym in the building. However, this is an old building so I've had a slew of maintenance problems, there is no dishwasher (not a huge negative).

Riverwest: high value worth at a convenient location

Pros: 1. Very convenient location: 20mins walking to school, 5 mins to Rittenhouse square, 1 block away from Trader Joes 2. Responsible front desk: handles all your e-commerce delivery 3. Room size is pretty generous. Very good for the price 4. The building includes Cable TV (~100 channels) 5. Decent business center to host team meetings 6. Small gym available. 2 laundry rooms Cons: 1. The condo is older style and not as fancy as some (i.e. Locust 1500), but really good value worth 2. The heater is old and can make loud cranky noises in the night -- not a big deal if you are a sound sleeper 3. Can get a bit noisy on Fri/Sat nights. 4. Elevator can be a pain

Great location, good value.

Building is a bit dated and since it's a condo, tenants have to work directly with the condo unit owner.

Riverwest - 1 bedroom unit (furnished)

The location is perfect. It is close to Rittenhouse Square, Trolley Station, Trader-Joe. Value for money is very good. I rented the unit with furniture. The building is a little bit old, so the quality is lower than high-end buildings such as 1500 Locust and 2116 Chestnut. But, accordingly price is much lower than equivalent units in those buildings. The biggest issue with the building is the old heating system, which makes a lot noise during the winter, esp. in the nights. But, after a while, I got used to the noise. I consider to rent again my unit in the next year.

Fitler Square Reviews

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
