Lofts at Lakeview reviews and highlights
- friendly staff
- convenient location
- modern and new building with great amenities, finishes, and appliances
- free workout classes
- high ceilings
- a bit expensive but you get a lot of value for the price
Spacious but low quality
It's a great aparment, but because it backs on to a lake and field, we have frequent pests.
Also some problems with the quality of walls/floors and the AC drips water.

Well Located Apartment Complex
The Lofts at Lakeview is a great apartment option for graduate students, but it is not for everyone. Its location makes it one of the few buildings reasonably walkable to the law school, business school, and medical school, and that is great for those who like to walk to class or avoid the garage traffic. The complex also has relatively few bug and pest issues compared to some other communities. The complex offers roughly comparable amenities to other apartments nearby. The three main drawbacks are that it is a little overpriced with all of the hidden fees they add to the rent, maintenance isn't as responsive as it should be (although they are not terrible, and the layout of the complex is a bit strange and makes certain units less desirable.

Solid Place
The Lofts at Lakeview is super convenient because it's only a 15-20 minute walk from the law school and is generally a good place to live. They complete work orders quickly and their package reception is prompt. However, they haven't repaired the parking gates in the parking garage and don't intend to (meaning anybody can drive in or out of the garage without a fob) and a couple of the doors on the property that are supposed to be locked at all times don't lock.

bad maintainance
This apartment is old and not clean. If you look for well maintained housing, you should choose this apartment. Air conditioner of specific floor has been broken over three months, so it was very hot during summer season. There were many roaches throughout the apartment even in high floors. Personally, I recommend Trinity Commons because it is properly managed, the price and the distance to Duke Law is almost same with Lofts, and amenities is far better than Lofts.

its fine, big apartments and walkable from campus

mixed bag
this review is tainted by the fact that management got our apartment unit wrong the day of move in, but overall, in hindsight, i would've chosen a different apartment complex to live in. it's close and convenient to the graduate schools, but i'm not sure if it's worth the older

Nice space, but far too expensive.
I've lived here all three years of law school. The apartments are nice, as is the building (mostly). The location is, I think, unbeatable. (Caveat: I don't own a car, so I needed to live within walking distance of the law school.)
In late-2023, the building came under new management. They're plenty responsive and friendly, but they hiked the price on EVERYTHING. My rent went up substantially, and they started slapping me with fees for parking (despite the fact that I don't own a car), amenities (which I don't use), and cable (even though I don't own a television). My sense is that rent in the area is rising generally, but the increase was staggering. Only the incovenience of moving and a few last-minute concessions on their part kept me from jumping ship.
If money's not an issue, it's a solid spot to live. But if you're balling on a budget, it'll wipe you out. I'm graduating in the red.

Not worth it
Price is at a luxury apartment's level but the facilities are just not worth it. Severe, severe, severe roach and ants problem (even after calling pest control service several times) - heard it's the worst among the buildings on Erwin Road. Also, the rent raise is just not reasonable, e.g. asking each tenant to pay for parking fees and cable fees even if we don't own a car/use cable service. The front door is locked after 6 pm and you have to detour to use the side doors. Some of the leasing office personnel are very rude. You can tell that the building is old by the corridor and the furniture. Some of the windows cannot be opened, and if I open the patio door, I'm just letting in more roaches and ants.
The good part is the room IS spacious. Fun decoration style and fancy lobby. The building has a mini-theatre (though the facilities are always "down" when asking if we can use it). Maintainence team responds quickly. Also, the building is within walking distance to the West Campus and close to the bus stops. Just not worth the price we're paying.
