Pretty good

Have been here going on two years. Rent has been very reasonable thus far, good value for the amenities and age of the property relative to newer, more expensive locations on Erwin Road. There can be bug issues on the lower floors.

Solid Average

The apartments at Lofts are nice- but I'm not sure they are worth the cost. The management is not very responsive and if you have an issue with your apartment it can take forever to get it fixed. That being said the facilities are nice and I enjoy living here- just not sure it's worth the high cost when there are plenty of places that are cheaper and have better management.

Review on Loft at Lakeview

Apartment is close to Fuqua School of Business and rent varies from $1000 to $1400. Building is new and amenities are also fairly new. Only thing about this building is that the walls are porous so you can hear others footsteps easily, but not in a way that disturbs. So best to stay at the top most floor

Lofts at Lakeview

Nice apartment with hardwood floors, good amenities, parking is easy and very easy to have guests. Very convenient location to the Erwin Rd. shopping center and restaurants and an easy 15-20 min walk to the Law School.

Rental Fee Hikes

They entice you with cheap entry prices but will hike on your renewal. Plan to take advantage of cheap Year 1 prices and move out in Year 2

Live above 6th floor

Top floor apartments have fewer bugs.
Close to school.
No door to the bedrooms. Very weird.

Great Apartment so Far

I initially chose Lofts at Lakeview due to its proximity to campus and the fact that it has 1 bathroom for each bedroom. It is the closest apartment complex to campus and there are about 10 restaurants within a 3 minute walk including Chipotle, Dunkin Donuts, Indian, Firehouse Subs, seafood, Mediterranean, Japanese, Korean, wings, etc. So if you don't have a car, you don't need to worry. The gym and the lobby is very nice. Also, I haven't felt unsafe once here. One downside is that electricity, water, wifi, and cable aren't included in the rent, and the rent is still pricey (~$1000 per person).

It's been perfectly fine. People are nice but it's not much of a community, just a place where people live. Behind the Belmont which had a spate of robberies a few months back, but the Flats is further away from the main road and is better lit. So far no security incidents or concerns at the Flats. Affordability depends on which apartment complex you choose in the Erwin-LaSalle area. Wide range in rents, ranging from very expensive to very affordable depending on which one you pick.

The broader neighborhood's chief attribute is convenience to Duke. A lot of students live in the apartment complexes around here. It can be inconvenient sometimes getting to a supermarket from the neighborhood, though (eventually they're going to re-open a Harris Teeter on Hillsborough, which should mitigate this issue somewhat).

The neighborhood was perfectly fine when I started living there, but recently there have been some armed robberies in apartment buildings that are about a 10 minute walk away. However, I would like to say that I have not felt unsafe walking home at night and the security at Trinity is quite high. For example, you have to use a special key to get into the lobby (where a security guard sits after dark) and then you have to use the key to get in from the lobby to where the rooms are, and then again to get into your room. There are about 10 good restaurants within walking distance ranging from greek food to Mexican food to sushi so it's great for a quick dinner when you don't want to cook. There is also a hair salon and a manicure place, as well as a Walgreens pharmacy. We are very close to Duke Hospital and the bus systems are very accessible.

The apartments are close to campus and easily accessible through bus, bike, or walking if desired. There is a nearby Kroger that is a less than 5 min drive away just up LaSalle St. Overall, there are some older apartments further up the road that have had issues with crime in the past, but The Heights and other apartments around the area seemed to be insulated from those issues.

The food in the area is really accessible and I feel quite safe in the surrounding area, excluding the gas stations and bus stop. I've heard some odd things at night but never seen anything fishy and feel safe coming home at night. +Tons of dogs!

Lofts is right next to a few restaurants - TGIFridays, Chipotle, Enzo's, Noodles, Smash Burger, Sushi Love, etc. The Kroger grocery store is just a few minutes away, off of Lasalle. This is a quiet neighborhood.

Quiet neighbourhood. Conveniently located to West Campus and walking distance to Fuqua. Easy and healthy fast food options nearby. Close to food stores e.g. Kroger & Harris Teeter. Close to WaDuke trail.

Not the safest neighborhood and has little transit. There have been issues at other apartment complexes with safety, but Heights has been very safe. It is absolutely fine to walk around in the day here, but not at night. There are not very many restaurants or bars nearby, although downtown Durham is 10 minutes away.
