Lyon Village
All the Fun but None of the Noise

Lyon Village is one of the most friendly neighborhoods in Arlington. Numerous parks with children's activities and its quiet community gives it a very fun and homely feel. It is away from the bustling city life but does have some popular places such as small boutiques, grocery stores and restaurants a few blocks away for shopping, hanging out or simply walking. Commuting has never been a concern in this part of the city.
Reviewers claim it's a hidden gem right outside of DC and you won't find a safer spot. It's very easy to get to downtown DC and it never gets too noisy or loud.

Clarendon is an excellent place to live if you want to experience the dynamic aspects of life near DC. During the day, the streets are quieter with commuters and dog-walkers making up the majority of the people you encounter. At night, the streets become more lively but hardly ever unsafe. There are some excellent places to get dinner or drinks, and you always have the opportunity to try something new.

Clarendon is the most similar to D.C. as far as an Arlington neighborhood goes. There are tons of bars, restaurants, gyms/yoga studios, grocery stores. Walking around, you will see tons of young professionals/graduate students. It's really clean and quiet. It's on the silver/orange metro line so you can really get anywhere. It's super closer to major highways/the airport, so if you have a car, there is not a single place that's too far away.

It's a neighborhood where the majority of the buildings are private houses. That makes the living experience so much more enjoyable because although you're right by the Lee Highway, 7 minutes' walk from the Courthouse Metro, 10 minutes' walk from the Clarendon area, you get a suburban feeling day in and day out. Our apartment complex has our own yard and out-door parking lot, it's a hidden gem right out of DC! Grocery stores (Giant, Wholefoods) and pharmacies (CVS and Walgreen) are also all within a 10-minute walk range! Commuting was extremely convenient. I work part-time at McPherson Square and I can take both a bus right outside my building or choose to walk for 7 minutes to the metro stop. I'm honestly in love with my neighborhood, it's my everyday getaway from all the craziness and stress from my busy life :)

So much to do, so many restaurants, so many bars, great shopping, many cafes, four grocery stores within walking distance! Lots to do, but also quiet and has nice suburban feel. Can't say enough great things!

Walkable to Courthouse/Clarendon/Ballston areas, which is great. Neighborhood is mostly extremely expensive SFHs though, which has its downsides

Great local area. Night life is okay, but very tailored to ex-frat bros. Tons of great food and an easy commute to the city.

Very walkable area, lots of restaurants, bars, and shops. Area feels safe to walk around even at night.

Very walkable neighborhood. Access to grocery stores and Metro. Not enough restaurants nearby, though there are a few decent ones if you're willing to walk a few minutes. Minimal bar scene but Clarendon is somewhat nearby. I have had minimal interaction with others living in the neighborhood, but haven't had any bad experiences.

Metro, bars, restaurants, gyms, movie theaters, breweries, etc. all a block or two away.

Lyon village is a great place to live because it it really close to Clarendon with all of the night life and restaurants, but you don't have to deal with all the people and noise. It is very safe - as a female I never feel insecure when walking around at night alone.

Living in Clarendon is fun, though there can be noise at night on weekends because of its proximity to bars. I definitely recommend Arlington for the commute time (read: ~25 mins door-to-door), but I may move to Courthouse if I decide to move again.

very easy to get to DC or the more "hopping" parts of Arlington (Clarendon, Ballston, etc). All of the amenities are right there though. Would recommend for anyone who enjoys a safe quiet place just outside the bustle.

Close to both Rosslyn and Clarendon, so there are definitely things to do in the area. I often walk to class (est. 1 hr), but the metro commute only takes about 30 min total.

The Lyon Village area is extremely safe. As a single female often walking alone, I feel comfortable walking around my neighborhood at any time of day or night.

The property is set in a residential area that is pleasant and safe. Custis trail is nearby for running, biking, and walking. It provides easy and quick access to the city and Rosslyn. I love this trail. MOM's market is on-site. I shop there occasionally but prefer the cheaper option of Giant down the street (a short drive or walk). The metro is a short and safe 5-minute walk away. The building does sit right off Lee Highway, but I have never had any noise or other problems associated with this. I like how quickly I can pull onto the major road instead of navigating around crowded city traffic. I drive to school in under 5 minutes via Lee Highway. Keep reading Verde Pointe
When I first came to school everyone said DuPont circle was the place to live and I wanted to be in the scene with everyone. After living in Arlington, I do not regret this decision at all. Everything is so clean and classy and safe. It is really the perfect community filled with young professionals. I personally think it is a better place for networking than the city.

Average neighborhood, food scene is unexceptional. If the law school wasn't right here I wouldn't be living here. Tons of crowds and people not taking masks / social distancing / pandemic in general serious and going to bars and clubs.

Lots of restaurants to choose from in the area. Near Trader Joe’s, Giant, and Whole Foods for grocery needs. Metro transit steps away, but also a quick walk to Roslyn or Courthouse.

Close to plenty of restaurants and bars but still quiet on Friday/Saturdays. 24 hour CVS right across the street. Zipcars right by the metro.

It's basically DC. That is NOT a good thing. Traffic patterns are ridiculous and the trees to buildings ratio is abysmal.

I love the Courthouse area. Much more affordable than Foggy bottom, more quiet than Rosslyn, some separation between school and home, yet only a quick 15-20 minute bike ride away (or 2 metro stops). And I went to class every day for pre-clinicals so totally doable. The bike ride (most of it on a bike path) includes going over the Potomac River, which is a beautiful way to start or end your day. It was a bit more complicated during clinical because some sites are farther away, but I still biked to most sites (including Children's and the VA) or biked to GW and used the shuttles. The neighborhood has lots of houses (many are quite pricey compared to the apartment buildings) and green spaces, tons of dogs and families. For Halloween the houses get DECKED OUT, I love it. Lovely place to live. Quiet and safe, I feel safe biking/walking around at any hour of day or night.

My only gripe about the area is that there are no mainstream food joints within 1/2 mile which would be nice when in a rush. Mentioned noise level- it doesn’t bother me because I moved from a big city but with the number of bars and restaurants close by, weekends can be a bit noisy. Lyon Village is a really charming neighborhood, mostly older single-family family homes, some townhouses, and some garden apartment complexes. There are plenty of grocery stores and it's quiet. It's also an easy walk to Clarendon, which has a solid nightlife and dining scene.

The neighborhood has a very busy nightlife. It has several bars and lounges in the area, as well as a great selection of late-night eateries. During the day time, the area is very peaceful. Great places for brunch, shopping, and groceries.

Super close to CVS, coffee shops, metro, and you can walk to Clarendon without living in it. Noise level can be high with Wilson Blvd and the fire and police stations. Overall, very convenient!

Lots of really good cheap restaurants. Very residential- good for walks and looking at other people's dogs. Not busy and is generally a good home-work separation.

I like the neighborhood! Feels removed from the city a bit, but actually so close! 12 min walk to metro, 10 min walk to lots of bars and restaurants
