Good for Couples

This is the perfect spot for Kellogg couples with one of the partners working. It's very high value for what you pay (it is a 'real adult apartment'). It's very popular with couples with children because of the second bedroom and bathroom. I consider it best for Kellogg couples where one person is working because 1) it's right next to the metro and 2) it's not a party unit like E2 or Optima Horizons. It's the closest condo to the Global Hub as well.

Spacious, modern condos

819-821 Foster is a great 14-unit building, with many Kellogg students living there. The building has a lot of families with children, and there are also non-Kellogg residents, so it isn't a big party building. The units are all spacious with modern finishings. The community is friendly, and the building is very safe.

The hidden gem of Evanston

This is the best condo building in Evanston. It's about half Kellogg students/ half non-student owners. Spacious layout, high ceilings, nice finishings, and has more of a 'homey' feel than the large condo/apartment complexes. It's also one of the closest options to the new Global Hub and is convenietly located right by the Foster El stop.

Absolutely incredible

819 Foster St is an amazing place to live, especially for families and couples. Each unit has an open kitchen, 10-12 foot ceilings, fireplace, balcony, two bathrooms, and the top floors have their own rooftop deck. I go to Kellogg and there are many other Kellogg students in the building, which is great. It's a 3-5 minute walk to the Jake, a block from the L line, and closer to the new Kellogg building than most other Evanston apartments. We could not be happier with the building, and know of many people who tried to get a unit but couldn't. I'd recommend reaching out to as many people in the building as possible, as it's a condo and each unit is owned individually. There is a wide range in prices between units.

819 Foster Street #3N

This building is an absolute gem in Evanston. First, if you had to define "perfect" location, this would be it. 5 minute walk to the current Jake and 10 minutes to the new Jake -- only single family houses can get closer. It's also across the street from the Foster Purple Line, so if you're commuting or heading downtown, you're only 50 feet away from the station (with no noise from the trains). You're also less than a 10 minute walk from all of the downtown Evanston bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and shops. And only a 7 minute walk to the lake! The units in this building, including 819 #3N, are all enormous: master bed with private bath, second large bedroom with separate bath, 10 foot ceilings, hardwood floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, crown molding, fireplaces, private balconies, and 2 parking spots (!!). The building also has two large roof decks that are great for summer BBQs. Relatively quiet but also filled with Kellogg people - if you're looking for a larger space with comfortable, modern, high end finishes, in the BEST location in Evanston, check out this place.

A true gem in terms of location and value

This condo building is steps to the Jake and about a 5-7 minute walk to most of Evanston's bars and restaurants. The building is about 70/30 renters to owners and most of the renters are Kellogg students. 2 parking spots are included with most units and even though there isn't a pool or doorman the building is extremely secure and only a few minutes away from Evanston gyms/health clubs. Units have hardwood floors, granite countertops, 12' ceilings, crown molding, and surround sound wiring.

Best place to live!

By far the best place to live - close to the Jake, next to the purple line, free garage parking, spacious updated condos. Only 12 units in the building and a mix between Kellogg & older condo owners. More of a family environment and a little further from downtown.

Northeast Evanston Reviews

Not the worst walk to class, quieter area, a little far from the grocery store. Park nearby, lots of grass for dogs, quiet neighborhood for walks/jogs.
If you're looking for a neighborhood feel, living in NE Evanston is perfect. You're just a 10-minute walk from downtown Evanston, but it's a bit quieter -- and housing prices are way more reasonable than being in a high-rise.
Good area, close to campus for walking/biking/skating (NU will not allow you to get a parking pass though b/c we're too close; parking is available after 4pm CST). Plenty of food options nearby.
Location couldn't be better. Best combination of accessibility to downtown while being a solid 10 minutes closer to the hub than most other places. An extra 20 minutes a day during those Chicago winters means a lot. You're 1 minute away from the Foster Street train stop but you'd have to make an effort to try to hear it when you're in your apartment. Our dog is scared of loud sounds and she hasn't been bothered at all.

They may bucket this as "Northeast" Evanston but if it is it's right on the line. The line is also moving North (as the hub pulls it that way). The surrounding area is nicer as well as it feels a bit more suburban than downtown does (and the houses in the surrounding streets are insanely nice), but again, you are 5-10 minutes from downtown. "Best of both worlds" sounds cliche but it's a perfect description of this place.
-Ridge road near The Reserve is a bit dark, but I have never had an issue coming home late at night.
-Close to Ingraham Park and the Golf Course where we take our dog.
-Close to undergrad houses on Foster street and further north on Ridge Ave.
-Overall good neighborhood experience.
Walkability to the Foster CTA, E2, and the Davis Street Metra is a definite plus. Subway across the street is good for being on the run, although wish there was a coffee shop a touch closer. Would definitely recommend a bike for trips to / from the new Kellogg building.
The Reserve is one of the Northern-most big apartment buildings. It’s close to campus and residential areas while still less than half a mile from the downtown area.
Just on the border of downtown Evanston and it's a great place to be. Lot's of great shops and restaurants that are all a short walk away!
