Expensive but overall worth it

E2 is expensive and the amenities aren't the best of the Evanston apartments, but the critical mass of Kellogg students living there + the proximity to campus makes it worth it

Nice property but the elevators are ALWAYS broken and they refuse to keep the hot tub open late

The elevators in the west tower break so regularly that it is a joke among all the residents. It's a huge issue since there is no way to get up from the ground floor without going and taking the elevator in the east tower then, walking across to the west tower and then walking up the stairs (up to the 16th floor on foot!). I have NEVER seen a building with such poor elevators.

Also, they refuse to keep the hot tub open late and have given residents differing reasons as to why. Initially they said they didn't want to because they were selling the building. Now they claim piping issues, but people have a hard time believing that after the first statement.

They used to allow animals on the pool deck but no longer allow dogs up there.

They've been raising rent by ~25% per year on residents, which is an insane number.

Lots of grad students live here. It's great for them because they all get to live together. If you're not in Northwestern's MBA program I wouldn't recommend it for you.

They need a better system for packages on the west tower. They get stolen now and then by people who walk in and just take them out of the lobby

Can't beat the gravitational pull of E2

For a similar price to many other Evanston properties, we are satisfied with the size and niceness of our unit and happy to be near other Kellogg students. Huge plus to have access to the pool / patio, basketball court, and other building amenities. Access to Downtown Evanston and retail/restaurants is worse than other apartments, so it can feel difficult to grab a takeout meal or do a quick convenience store run.

Overpriced

Like a lot of complexes in Evanston, E2 is way more expensive than it should. We're getting charged NYC/SF prices for (albeit) a nice building in a small city with not much going on. I'd seriously consider living in Chicago and commuting to school.

E2's saving grace is that it's pretty much the social hub of Kellogg outside of the Global Hub building and it's a fairly short walk to school (about 18 minutes).

E2

Maintenance and building management is very responsive whenever you have an issue. The walls are highly insulated so you aren’t disrupted at night by neighbors. There is a basketball court inside the building and the outdoor patio is great for social events and gatherings. The only downside is the gym in the building is fairly small.

Great amenities and social life

E2 is the best place in Evanston for social life given the huge density of students in the building.

Downtown Evanston has everything you need. E2 is walkable to campus, a Target, and plenty of restaurants, as well as Metra and L stations to get to Chicago. Right across the street is a Subway, a Thai restaurant, and a pizza place, plus there’s a 7-Eleven about a block away, so you’re very close to options if you need food in a pinch.
Close to downtown Evanston but a bit far from E2/the reserve. One of closest apartments to Trader Joes/Whole Foods/Jewel Osco while also being close to campus. Very close to the lake!
Downtown Evanston has everything you need from a downtown including grocery stores, restaurants, and convenience stores.
Downtown Evanston is great - plenty of great food within walking distance, Metra and El trains right nearby, a really nice place to be. Only downside is it's far from school and the only truly walkable grocery store is a Whole Foods, which can get expensive. Overall, wouldn't want to live elsewhere though.
Close to grocery stores and restaurants. Very easy access to Lake Michigan as well!
There isn't much to do here, but that's true pretty much everywhere in Evanston. We're in walking distance to all of "downtown" Evanston, so restaurants / fast food / subway, etc. It's a slightly longer walk than desired to Kellogg, but that's fine.
The apartment is central to downtown and is walking distance to most bars, restaurants, shops, beach, etc. Evanston is a bit of a sleepy town (especially during the pandemic...I've been told it was much more vibrant pre-pandemic).
I live just south of the main downtown area, and it's the perfect intersection of being close to the action but also a bit removed when you want some quiet. I like being a in a more residential pocket, so there is slightly less foot traffic and really nice areas to walk around with a dog, etc.
