Solid place to live

New style apartments for MBA students. Good place to live in Sawtelle. Management can be a bit tough to deal with as they aren't very helpful.

Convenient location

Pros: Close to campus (15min drive time), modern/new interior, many UCLA Anderson students live here, bars/restaurants close by
Cons: Expensive, noisy (if room faces Santa Monica), only 2 parking spots for 3bed/3bath

Great setup in a 3 bed / 3 bath

Living here is great - the layout of the apartment is fantastic. We have a huge kitchen and living room. All three of us have our own bathrooms, and each have 2 closets. The drawbacks are that we only have 2 parking spots for 3 people, so we rotate who is on the street. Also the fixtures and finishes could be a bit better - they are beautiful, but not the highest quality. Also the elevator in the building is slow - but that's really minor. Overall, really happy living here - the apartment is very bright as well, and pretty sound proof.

Great value

Great location. Great value for your money. Lived here with the same roomates the 2 years of the MBA.
Don't expect much noise or parties, neighbors complaint a lot and they have internal security to shutdown parties after midnight.

Santa Monica at Federal 3 bed / 3 bath

Really great apartment for someone just moving to Los Angeles before really having a true feel for the city and its different neighborhoods. The apartment is great - has great kitchen appliances, large windows and lots of sunlight, good floors, nice sized bathrooms and bedrooms. Nothing to really complain about, other than that I wish the apartment had come with 3 parking spots instead of 2 for a 3 bedroom.

Nice Place For a Student

Nice, quiet building, with mostly other 20 somethings, and a few families. Easy to get to UCLA each day, and also only a short trek to Santa Monica. There aren't a ton of amenities that come along with the building, but parking is included, and the apartments themselves are relatively new.

Bad Management, low quality building

Management is very cheap and is does not provide even a basic level of service. Upon move-in the apartment was filthy. The management dragged their feet about cleaning it at all (scuffs on the walls, mildew in bathrooms, dirty floors and appliances). After extensive complaints, they agreed to clean it, but then did not actually clean it. Ultimately, I cleaned the apartment with my roommates and lived with the scuffs on the walls.

Items break frequently due to low quality materials, and again management drags their feet to fix anything.

The elevator is extremely slow, stairs are always faster. As of writing the elevator safety inspection is expired by 5 months. People have been stuck in the elevator on multiple occasions.

When my rent check was one day late in the 6th month of the lease, management immediately sent a notice threatening eviction.

The good: the location is good but there are many other apartments in the area that are equally good locations with better management. Also, the car wash across the road is very loud and starts early in the morning, so you cant keep the windows open.

Friendly management

Good value, nice apartment, parking is excellent. High street noise, neighbors can be loud, and although a cleaning crew regularly scrubs the common areas, other residents are generally slobs. Management is friendly and responsive, however.

Sawtelle Reviews

Centrally located in West La. Close to Brentwood, Santa Monica, Westwood, Sawtelle, Culver.

A decent amount of homeless people but not at the Venice level.
Many Anderson and UCLA students around so never a dull moment. The area feels comfortable even at night. All of the worthy restaurants are on Sawtelle blvd which is great if you appreciate ramen. You will most likely branch out for more to do but it provides great proximity to UCLA and everywhere else
Probably most popular place for food in the west la area. Ramen, Japanese food, and dessert alley. Bit pricey but since it's upscale and popular, it feels safe at night. Close enough to school if you drive. Lots of students live in the area, but you'll need to uber to meet them or meet them at the restaurants.
Within a few blocks walking to the primary bars that Anderson events are held at. The neighborhood is fairly residential and quiet, but not too far from some good restaurants and bars in Brentwood and Santa Monica. The great thing is that so many classmates tend to live nearby. Less than 3 miles from the ocean at Santa Monica.
25 minutes driving to school in rush traffic. 15 minutes otherwise. Neighborhood is quiet and safe, but a range of bars, shops, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. are within walking and short driving/uber range. Bus and metro stops are both fairly close. Easy highway access to both the 405 and the 10. Price range is cheaper than Brentwood or Santa Monica.
Pros:
- Close drive to UCLA campus w/ easy access to 405
- Can pick up #1 bus from Santa Monica and Sawtelle bus to UCLA
- Given the area, street parking is not too difficult to find
- Easy walk to Sawtelle for food
- Rent is reasonable given the area
- Small complex with only 12 units so there's not too much noise
- Management is very responsive

Cons:
- Non-master bedrooms are pretty small and one of them has a stand-up shower (not a bathtub)
- Appliances and apartment doesn't feel very "modern" (though everything works)
Lots of good Asian restaurants and convenient grocery stores.
Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Lots of other Anderson students within a mile radius. Quick drive to school (13-15min almost always). In-between Santa Monica Blvd and Wilshire so there are lots of bus options if you won't have a car.
