Luck of the draw with Wiseman

We had massive problems upon moving into our apartment including unclean floors/walls/appliances, broken fixtures, and an ant infestation. The company was slow to remedy these issues and was less than sympathetic to our complaints (offered no concessions). The Location of the apt is good and convenient for getting to school every day. Perhaps a little overpriced given the area.

Mediocre building

Cons: Walls are thin, difficult to host parties, not a lot of restaurants nearby, only 2 parking spots included

Pros: pretty close to the beach and school, relatively new building, lots of Anderson students live here

Good location for UCLA grad students.

Pros: About 15 minutes from school, 15 minutes from the beach. 3 Bed / 3 Bath setups are perfect for rooming, everyone gets their own bed and bath and shares a kitchen / living room / laundry. In vicinity of most other UCLA Anderson students' living areas.

Cons: Only comes with two parking spaces. People constantly parking in your space. Dangerous proximity to Benitos Tacos leads to weight gain and horrible stomach problems after a night of drinking.

Great place for Anderson students

Last year 5 apartments had 1st and 2nd year UCLA Anderson students living there. There are also Anderson alumni living in the apartments. A small gym run by very friendly staff is on the 1st floor but not included in rent. Landlord is not that responsive to requests and normally has a bad reputation, strongly suggest you read through the contract and always have a copy on you. After 1 year we are now on a 1 month advance notice contract breaker so they are at least friendly. Apartment building is a new build so no major problems with utilities. Neighbors tend to be younger and receptive to larger parties, just give them a heads up before throwing one.

Anderson Central

New building with perfect setup for roommates with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. Easy access to Anderson hot spots, but a little far for walking.

Federal at Santa Monica

Good location for the first year of MBA. Close to Santa Monica where social things happen and close to campus where you will be spending a lot of time. Historically a lot of Anderson kids live here their fist year, which makes it a good social scene, which I think is the biggest positive about living here. Rent does not include anything but trash and parking for two spots (third spot is $150 a month) so it can be a little steep in that sense.

Great place for first year living

The apartment is nicknamed "Anderson Central" since we have at 5 units rented to first year Anderson students. Close to campus but not in Westwood, easy access to the 405 as well as to Santa Monica. Gym in the same building but not affiliated with Wiseman (you'll get a discount of about $10/month and no sign-up fee). Only two parking spots per apt (you can pay roughly $100/month for an extra one) but street parking is usually easy. Management is very understanding, but prefers not to do much. We've had a number of parties that management has been aware of and we're usually ok till about 12-12:30am (at which point other residents complain). Apartments are older than they look, though still decent. Make sure to negotiate price; I was able to reduce ours by $100/month.

Very nice, newer building with lots of space

Visited 1518 Federal on the housing tour during A-Days. The building is very new, and the apartments are very nice - in-unit laundry, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, fireplace, balcony. It's a 10-25 minute drive to campus (depending on traffic). Walkable to a few bars on Wilshire and many restaurants/gyms/stores on Santa Monica. If you're in a 3-bedroom, you're not guaranteed 3 parking spaces, which is bad if you each have a car. No doorman though, and only one person can have the buzzer programmed into their phone to let guests in.

Sawtelle Reviews

Centrally located in West La. Close to Brentwood, Santa Monica, Westwood, Sawtelle, Culver.

A decent amount of homeless people but not at the Venice level.
Many Anderson and UCLA students around so never a dull moment. The area feels comfortable even at night. All of the worthy restaurants are on Sawtelle blvd which is great if you appreciate ramen. You will most likely branch out for more to do but it provides great proximity to UCLA and everywhere else
Probably most popular place for food in the west la area. Ramen, Japanese food, and dessert alley. Bit pricey but since it's upscale and popular, it feels safe at night. Close enough to school if you drive. Lots of students live in the area, but you'll need to uber to meet them or meet them at the restaurants.
Within a few blocks walking to the primary bars that Anderson events are held at. The neighborhood is fairly residential and quiet, but not too far from some good restaurants and bars in Brentwood and Santa Monica. The great thing is that so many classmates tend to live nearby. Less than 3 miles from the ocean at Santa Monica.
25 minutes driving to school in rush traffic. 15 minutes otherwise. Neighborhood is quiet and safe, but a range of bars, shops, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. are within walking and short driving/uber range. Bus and metro stops are both fairly close. Easy highway access to both the 405 and the 10. Price range is cheaper than Brentwood or Santa Monica.
Pros:
- Close drive to UCLA campus w/ easy access to 405
- Can pick up #1 bus from Santa Monica and Sawtelle bus to UCLA
- Given the area, street parking is not too difficult to find
- Easy walk to Sawtelle for food
- Rent is reasonable given the area
- Small complex with only 12 units so there's not too much noise
- Management is very responsive

Cons:
- Non-master bedrooms are pretty small and one of them has a stand-up shower (not a bathtub)
- Appliances and apartment doesn't feel very "modern" (though everything works)
Lots of good Asian restaurants and convenient grocery stores.
Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Lots of other Anderson students within a mile radius. Quick drive to school (13-15min almost always). In-between Santa Monica Blvd and Wilshire so there are lots of bus options if you won't have a car.
