No complaints but $$

Absolutely adequate, I enjoy it. But rent feels steep.

Marq Uptown review

Management is very hit or miss. They can take a while to get back to you about issues. The units themselves can have a lot of issues and things break down around the apartment complex quite often. As a UT student, the biggest plus of living here is that it is very close to campus and rent is not terribly expensive. Parking here is also a plus since there are two levels of garages and it is underneath the building. The apartment facilities are also a plus, the gym, pool, grills, game room, printers, are all very nice. My apartment unit is quite small, especially for two people, but it is doable for short term living. Walls in the apartment tend to be quite thin, as it is very easy to hear neighbors, and my neighbors seem to hear me quite easily.

Marq Uptown

This complex is a great location close to the law school. The bedrooms and common areas in the apartment are spacious. The weight room and pool area are well maintained.

Good location, average apartment

If you are a UT student, Marq Uptown is in a great location. However, if you are in an apartment that faces the street, you will hear every single thing that happens on the street below. There are also houses directly across from the apartment that have loud parties every single weekend and you will hear every word once again. Apartments themselves are okay and the appliances, etc. are a bit cheap for the price you are paying.

You get what you pay for!

Spacious, pretty and comfy apartments. Clean and nice views. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Expensive though. Occassional issues with elevators / package room / garage doors, but fortunately nothing has impacted me.

Good management

I chose Marq because of the responsive and transparent management team. I feel like they are quick to answer questions and maintenance requests, and are quick to address issues in the building.

I really enjoy living here. The apartments are all very nice, the pool is huge, and the gym is great. Management is always very helpful and responsive. It is also close to school.

About Hancock

North of the University of Texas and close to downtown is surprisingly quaint and quiet Hancock, a neighborhood highly desired by professionals, families, university students and faculty. Many homes adorning the neighborhood were built in the early 1900s, and are charming modestly-sized bungalows. ...

Getting around Hancock

Hancock Reviews

Great neighborhood. Lived here for a major portion of my grad school. Close to HEB/gym/takeouts/bus stops/coffee shops/ greenery.
It's a pretty nice walkable area. The roads are busy and the interstate is loud. There are also a decent number of homeless people and bikes get stolen frequently. That said, it's nice to have the golf course nearby as well as cafes, grocery stores and convenience stores.
The people that live in the neighborhood are fine. Generally keep to themselves. It is near a bus stop and hospital so there are often homeless people walking around, but they seldom attempt to interact. I have had several packages go missing.
The neighborhood is close to the law school, but avoids most of the undergraduate crowds. Sometimes it can get a little loud at night, but it’s overall a pretty quiet neighborhood.
The Hancock neighborhood is very nice with very nice people. So many law students live in Uptown and Sabina, it's nice to have a close group of people from the school.
Right now there are lots of construction workers on one side of the apartment complex otherwise it is pretty empty. Just people walking dogs or running.
The neighborhood is mostly residential with a handful of small shops and restaurants - the biggest value add is its proximity to campus.
Neighborhood is mostly fine, although in the past couple months there have been a few homeless individuals obviously on drugs outside the complex (one in our recycling dumpster, a couple wandering around our parking lot, which is supposed to be kept closed -- due to a change in the property management company recently, a gate issue is taking longer than normal to fix). Other than that, the neighborhood seems pretty safe. I feel safe walking around the area in the evening, walking to the grocery store at night, etc. The only other issue I've had with walking in the area is with people walking their badly-behaved pit bull dogs that like to snap at passersby, but I think that's probably a problem everywhere in the South. Lighting on the streets could be better. The neighborhood appears to be comprised mostly of university students and some young professionals, so I wouldn't say it's family-friendly.
