Close to the football stadium/Rowling

Very close to downtown ($6 Uber/Lyft). Has a fantastic pool which is nice to read by. Also, very close to the highway to get north/south or to the Airport. Also, by a convenient dogpark. Right off the bus stop on Red River St.

Marq Uptown

Marq Uptown is a great apartment. The walk to the law school is typically no more than 10 minutes. It's one of the newest and nicest apartments in the area, has great amenities, is clean and well managed. With the exception of some slightly thin walls and some minor bug issues, it's been exactly what we hoped.

Marq Uptown

Can't beat the location, and it's nice to live in a complex with so many classmates. Very happy with my experience here!

So close to the law school, a little pricey, decent management

The rent at Marq is more than I would like to pay but the apartments are good for how close it is to the law school. Many law students live in the building and the neighboring building, Sabina, which is also managed by CWS. The management can be frustrating and you have to advocate for your needs but they are the best apartments in walking distance from the law school, in my opinion. The gym and pool are nice. Undergrad neighbors can be annoying. Law school neighbors are great for making friends. Apartment makes you pay pet rent but it is pet friendly with a fenced dog park next door, Hancock Dog Park, and a nice dog run behind the building. Security is pretty good with key fobs and a gated garage but they have had some security issues since the homeless camp under I-35 just north of the building has grown during the pandemic. Mask policies are pretty well followed except for the undergrad neighbors.

overall great

Great apartment ESPECIALLY in proximity to campus and the fact that so many people at Texas Law live there. Only downside is the walls are incredibly thin. Management is really attentive and responsive.

Many students live in Marq Uptown or Sabina

Both buildings are owned by the same company and a large chunk of the student body lives in these buildings. Within walking distance of the school. Apartments are well-managed and clean. I wish I had moved here in the beginning rather than for just my 3L year.

Short walk to campus, nice campus, and easy parking ... for a price!

Pool, gym, dog park. It’s a really nice place to live! I don’t think I’d live there without a significant other or else it would be horribly expensive for just 1 person

10 min walk to law school!

I love Marq Uptown - it's in a terrific location on the edge of Hyde Park, the layouts are great with high quality furnishings, and the amenities are amazing (gym, pool, barbecue/fire pit areas, sky lounge, "club" room, media room, automated package pickup). There's a huge fenced dog park literally right across the street and the community is safe overall.

About Hancock

North of the University of Texas and close to downtown is surprisingly quaint and quiet Hancock, a neighborhood highly desired by professionals, families, university students and faculty. Many homes adorning the neighborhood were built in the early 1900s, and are charming modestly-sized bungalows. ...

Getting around Hancock

Hancock Reviews

Great neighborhood. Lived here for a major portion of my grad school. Close to HEB/gym/takeouts/bus stops/coffee shops/ greenery.
It's a pretty nice walkable area. The roads are busy and the interstate is loud. There are also a decent number of homeless people and bikes get stolen frequently. That said, it's nice to have the golf course nearby as well as cafes, grocery stores and convenience stores.
The people that live in the neighborhood are fine. Generally keep to themselves. It is near a bus stop and hospital so there are often homeless people walking around, but they seldom attempt to interact. I have had several packages go missing.
The neighborhood is close to the law school, but avoids most of the undergraduate crowds. Sometimes it can get a little loud at night, but it’s overall a pretty quiet neighborhood.
The Hancock neighborhood is very nice with very nice people. So many law students live in Uptown and Sabina, it's nice to have a close group of people from the school.
Right now there are lots of construction workers on one side of the apartment complex otherwise it is pretty empty. Just people walking dogs or running.
The neighborhood is mostly residential with a handful of small shops and restaurants - the biggest value add is its proximity to campus.
Neighborhood is mostly fine, although in the past couple months there have been a few homeless individuals obviously on drugs outside the complex (one in our recycling dumpster, a couple wandering around our parking lot, which is supposed to be kept closed -- due to a change in the property management company recently, a gate issue is taking longer than normal to fix). Other than that, the neighborhood seems pretty safe. I feel safe walking around the area in the evening, walking to the grocery store at night, etc. The only other issue I've had with walking in the area is with people walking their badly-behaved pit bull dogs that like to snap at passersby, but I think that's probably a problem everywhere in the South. Lighting on the streets could be better. The neighborhood appears to be comprised mostly of university students and some young professionals, so I wouldn't say it's family-friendly.
