The Loop Reviews

I love living here because it is right downtown, but a little but away from the fray of Michigan Ave. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops within walking distance. There is also a CVS and Mariano's right behind the building in this little neighborhood. It is right in the heart of downtown so some view it as "too touristy".
The apartment is in a business area so most things immediately nearby shut down after about 7 on weekdays and aren't open on weekends. It's very easy to get elsewhere in the city though to more exciting neighborhoods, the centrality is why we chose it.
Well the loop is the center of the city so needless to say there are a lot of fantastic spots like museums and good restaurants. But I'd there are way more fancy, interesting and warm neighborhoods in Chicago.
- convenient transportation
- high level of security
- diverse cultural activities
- high rent
Beautiful area in a great location with a dog park, playground, and full service grocery store in short walking distance. Restaurants and transit are just ok in this area, but not a bad walk to the "L" and that opens up the restaurant options. No close-by childcare for kids under preschool age, but great preschool and private elementary school, with high price tags. Ubers often find this place impossible to locate due to GPS's going crazy with the multiple layers of Wacker, Randolph, Columbus, and East South Water Street.
I live close enough to MPP, right in the middle between Mila/73 and Shoreham/Tides, a mice midpoint. I also have access to the pedway from inside my building which is great, a market (Blockwinkels) on the first floor of the same building, and very close to Marianos. Also closer to walk to Gleacher than most buildings where other students live!
Super convenient for Booth students. Not much of a place to live long-term, but for students in Chicago it offers great access to school and everything else the city has to offer. With Booth students living in such close proximity to each other, it's a good place to be to always be able to meet up with others. Can walk easily to Gleacher/NBC, the Metra, the L.
personally not a fan of the Loop - lacks a neighbourhood-y vibe which I miss. that being said, very convenient as a Booth student (metra is right nearby, literally everyone lives here, super close to firm offices for recruiting, etc). as a Booth student - not bad, but would not live here if I stayed post-MBA.
