Overall Enjoyed Experience
Our landlord has been responsive to any issues we have been having. We don't know the neighbors very well though. The walls are thick and don't lead to many noises getting through. However, our biggest issue seems to be electrical shortages in the apartment.

I mostly chose to live in Lakeview because I wanted to be walking distance from the Synagogues. But I really love the area. It's definitely city, but there's still some grass/trees. The main areas are exciting and alive, but the side streets are still pretty quiet. It really has character, and it's got both Wrigleyville for the sports bar scene and the whole Northalsted (previously known as boystown) scene as well. Much more bang for your buck than a streeterville apartment. Depending on where exactly you live you'd either take the train or the bus to streeterville, but either way your commute is probably 30-40 minutes, which isn't so bad. Unless you have a car, in which case your commute is more like 10-15 minutes
With COVID, I haven't been out much but I love Lakeview's access to the lake front and restaurants. Unlike Woodlawn, where I used to live, there are plenty of grocery stores within walking distance (10 minutes or less). In the fall and spring, I can also bike down the lake front path to school, which is a really pretty and relaxed way to commute.
Lake view is an excellent neighborhood to be a young professional. Easy access to downtown if you work there, yet has the neighborhood feel that separates work from home.
Quieter / more family oriented neighborhood but still with plenty of bars/restaurants in walking distance.
Great place to live and easy commute to Streeterville. Lots of green space, restaurants, and safe.
My wife and I couldn't imagine living in any neighborhood other than Lakeview.
The main reason we moved here was the neighborhood. Broadway, Clark, Diversey and Belmont are all within walking distance and offer all of the shops, restaurants, bars and grocery stores you could need. It really is in a prime, unbeatable location. Not to mention it's a block from Lake Michigan and walking distance to Lincoln Park and a short bike ride from Montrose Beach.
My street and neighborhood are usually fairly quiet. Sundays seem to be the going out day in the neighborhood but it isn't disruptive to my every day life. Overall it seems like a very safe area and being a young woman living alone, that is very important. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
